Hi All If like me your looking for a five shelf display cabinet for your models then Ikea may have the answer for you. The shelves are 40cm by 45cm aprox and the height is 180cm so it will hold Five 1/12 models or even more smaller scale models, it even has a lock to keep the grandkids out. They also do smaller three shelf display cabinets if the above is too big. http://www.ikea.com/gb/e...ear-glass-art-60128562/

Looks good and not a bad price too, only problem is that it wont be dust proof so the displayed cars will still need cleaning Steve

Just use silicon sealant to seal the rear and sides that leaves the door area but that wont let that much dust in over time Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All The cabinet has now been sealed with a bead of silicon around the back sides, top and bottom. My local Aladin's Cave has provided a 1 inch wide black plastic strip that has sealed the front door opening this has been fixed to the frame so the glass door when closed makes the seal. Not a bad result for an outlay of around £100 that with a little thought on how to improve the basic cabinet gives a display that will hold Five 1/12 models and room for background/dio enhancements that will fit each individual shelf. As a comparison the average acrylic 1/12 case is around £40 so five cases = £200 and they look pants stacked on top of each other. Of course if you live in a mansion with 200 rooms space will never be at a premium but for most of us I think this is a compromise even SWIMBO maybe might find acceptable. I have one of these cabinets, but in white. http://www.ikea.com/gb/e...ack-brown-art-10119206/
But with a little mod. 1st mod I sealed the back up, and then added some draft excluder (the furry kind) to the door opening so the unit is sealed. 2nd mod brought some wire clamps and added them to the down bars to add more shelf's, and also some acrylic sheets. So now my cabinet has 8 shelf's Total cost cabinet £40, clamps £5, sheets £20 My Favourite Building:- 1919 https://forum.model-spac...=339517&#post339517 -

The price is really good and there are stacks of videos on YouTube showing how to light it, seal it and the like. Must admit i am tempted but not sure how it would arrive via mail order Happy Modelling
