You might also find 'the anatomy of the ship book' "The Battleship Yamoto" by Janusz Skulski a good reference source, it contains a 1/600 fold out plan, has full description of the design and construction of the actual ship including wartime mod's through 600+ 3-view drawings.

Also 'Yamoto Class Battleships' by Steve Wiper might be useful, which contains lot's of original photos of the ship, and is a book for modellers of the Yamoto as it contains heaps of colour photos of just about every Yamoto kit on the market.
