Next up is a photo showing the internal ribs that will be fitted to inner pressure hull of No.2 Battery Compartment. I measured one rib to get it exact then just cut the other three to the same length. They were all bent around the circular handle of my craft knife to provide a slight curve to match the inner hull to aid fitting.

This photo shows the first rib about to fitted. I had already marked their positions with a pencil so that they match the internal ribs above them in the Junior Rates Mess & Galley.

The next part of this weeks update will be focusing on the part-works supplied, etched brass tank covers.

This photo shows the aft starboard cover fitted and cut down to suit the shape of the hull. I did have to double check the positions of these covers of which there are three in total, especially the one I've just mentioned. All three had to be bent slightly around my circular craft knife handle to match the contour of the hull.

Well that's it for this weeks instalment from 'The Dockyard'. The battery cells I will be making from scratch and fitting later on in the year, so watch this space for those.

Stay tuned for another update next week.

Thanks for looking in, have a great Easter Bank Holiday weekend whatever your plans and happy modelling! BigGrin

Kind Regards,
Phil W

Another great update. You certainly are pcking in some nice detailing.

Cannot remember if I ever mentioned sound effects as i have been looking for something for my loco build and i came across the following.

If you scan down the list ms59 are sound effects for submarines. I am looking at getting their ms20 BigGrin

Hi Tony,

I think you've sent this link before but thanks for the reminder mate. I'm definitely going to install a sonar sound from their range.

Thanks Al. This will be my only submarine build so I intend to give it 110%. After it's complete [Sept 2018 ish] I will be back to two of my favourite subjects; trucks and trains.

Phil W

Oh dear it must be me age Confused i wasn't sure if i had posted it before.

I have been collecting this one and just had issue 135 delivered so not many more to go now. Its going into storage until such time i get to retire or win the lottery and put my notice in BigGrin as holding off i have missed out on so many wonderful models over the last few years.

It's a good plan to collect for later. At least you know you've got a challenging model in the stash and the plus side is you can build it in concentrated chunks rather than wait for parts each week.

I'm already gathering parts and researching for future models.

When you start your U-boat I hope you find some of the things I've learned building it useful.

Kind Regards,
Phil W.

The amount of detail you are adding into this will make one hell of a show piece when it's finished.

Maybe you'll put sound in as time suggested, that would be amazing Blink Cool
