BigGrin Hi All

This is another first for me a HK Models kit and I am impressed but first some history.

The DO-335 was the fastest piston engined aircraft in the German luftwaffe at the end of the war with a push/pull engine layout. The 'B' series was the Zerstorer or Destroyer was the heavily armed version with three 103-30mm guns two in the wings one firing through the front propellor shaft plus two MG 151 20mm mounted in the upper front cowl. Another 1st for the Anteater or Pheil as it was nicknamed was it was designed with an ejector seat for the pilot.

The kit comes in a sturdy and deeper than the norm large box comprising of 282 parts in grey plastic, some etch, nose weights, decals and instructions. The nose weights are hidden in the build the larger one is hidden inside the front engine.

Examining the parts show no flash at all and a very high degree of surface detail that shows panel lines, hatches and rivets on all the external parts plus the interior parts also have lots of wires/detail moulded into them. The wheels come already weighted and you have the choice of the clipped or extended wings.

The instructions are clear and well set out the first page showing the parts/sprue breakdown and then the colour chart. The layout is easy to follow and clear throughout and has three choices of aircraft including one in captured french roundels. The kit can be built undercarriage down/hatches open or in flight mode.

To enhance the kit I have the Big-Ed set that has etch for the interior, exterior, seatbelts and masks. Brassin muzzle brakes and metal landing gear to replace the plastic one provided in the kit. I also have two paint sets that have the correct RAL colours. The last extra is the book that has lots of pictures and information on the DO-335 including many pictures from the aircraft instruction manual.

In conclusion a very nice kit with high detail and one that can only be a joy to build.

An interesting looking kit Andy.

I've never seen an HK kit myself but have read lots of positive things about them, from the pictures it looks nicely detailed.

Will be following Cool

BigGrin Hi All

Thanks for looking in and your comments, its a well thought out kit the front wing joints are underneath the front section and follow the panel line under the forward wing si it looks like there is no joint there. Unlike a lot of kits that are butt jointed and you get the joint line to sort out.

Its a very unusual looking aircraft and looks very high off the ground.

I have seen - smaller version of this one that tamiya issued but will be interested to see how this larger one builds.

When i got hold of my 1:32 mosquito it was a toss up between a hk kit ot tamiya and in a way i wish i had opted for the hk version because looking at this one you have i bet their mosquito would have been a good one as well.

Hope it all goes to plan.
Happy Modelling

BigGrin Thanks for looking in everyone and your comments, another nice point about the attachments to the sprue's are very small so minimal clean up in detached area'sCool
