I was under the impression (from the pictures) that we whould receive one of those hand-drill jobbies with the 'toolkit' - this turned out to be a mistake on my part. Anyone know where in SA one can get one of the hand drills (sorry I can't remember the correct term for it now) I have a Dremel with the drill stand and a chuck attachment so if I can source mirco drillbits for a reasonable price, could it be an option?

The drill is called an Archimedes drill...I have one and had it for a number of years, damn handy drill to have too. Have you tried sourcing a drill and drill bits on google or E.Bay...shouldn't be too difficult to pick up one...hope this helps??? Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Thanks Gents! The kit supplied in SA does not have the drill, even though the earlier pictures of the kit showed one. Does one just cut a notch in the head of the dressmakers pin? I'll use the dremel, even though I suspect the hand drill will give one more control.

Hi, if you haven't found the bits, I know of a place.
In cape town (montague gardens to be exact) there is a hobby shop called "Clowns Hobbies". They stock artesania Latina products, including a 5 drill bit set (0.5mm, 0.75mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm I think). They are just before the Trade Centre in Koeberg Road. Hope that helps =)

Thanks Willie, So far (up to issue 16 only and still waiting for issue 14) I've only used a 0.5mm, 1mm and a snipped sewing needle. (Shown below)
