Build the Jaguar E-Type, Issue 4Parts with Issue 4:Inner spokes x48 spoke retaining ring Wheel rim (outer) Wheel centre PlusWheel-building jig Modelling tweezers With this issue we make a start on the first of 5 wheels. First take the wheel centre and fit it onto the building jig making sure the slot and tab engage. Then fit the outer wheel rim onto the jog making sure the hole in the rim engages with the post on the jig. Next cut some double sided tape and work it into the groove around the rim. Now you start fitting the spokes. they can old go in one way as they have a pin head at one end. Starting with the lower row of holes feed the spokes through until it reaches the grove on the outer rim. The length and angle of the spoke means it will only fit into one of the grooves (Picture 2) Continue with the bottom row of holes until you have all 24 fitted and facing the same direction (Picture 3) now take another spoke and feed it through one of the upper row of holes ensuring it is angled the opposite way to the lower set of spokes. Carry on adding spokes to the upper holes until all 24 remaining spokes are in place. Take the retaining ring and place it over the rim. It has several notches and posts on it the mean it will only fit one way. Be very careful that you don't dislodge any of the spokes. Screw the retaining ring down with 4 screws and remove it from the jig with a sigh of relief (Picture 4) The relief lasts long enough for you too look at whats coming in issue 5 and see that you have to do it all over again! Build the Jaguar E-Type, Issue 5Parts with Issue 5:Outer spokes (Type A) x12 Outer spokes (type B) x12 Wheel rim (inner) Spacer ring And now we do more spoke fitting on the wheel Take the Assembly from issue 4. The instructions say to use more double sided tape, which I did use, but in the end I got so fed up with them still falling out I broke out the superglue. Take one of the spokes from the packet labeled A and fit it through one of the lower holes in the wheel centre. Feed it through the V made by the closest pair of inner spokes. At this point I found it easier to leave it in this position and continued to feed the spokes through the holes in the wheel hub. Spokes from packet A go in the lower holes and spokes from packet B go in the upper holes. Once this is done carefully turn the assembly over and carefully move each other the spokes to its groove as each pair in put in place put a small drop of superglue on the ends of the spokes to hold them in place. Once this has been done with all the spokes, Take the spacer ring and place it onto the assembly aligning the hole and the post to ensure it fits the right way round. Then take the inner rim and place it onto the assembly again aligning the hole and post to ensure its the right way round. Secure this with 2 4 screws (Pictures 2 and 3) Next take the Tyre supplied with Issue 3 and place it in boiling water for a few minutes to soften. remove it from the water and dry thoroughly. before the rubber cools push the rim of the wheel into the Tyre and stretch it around the whole wheel. It will take some force (Picture 4) This completes the spare wheel. This was probably the most fiddly thing I've ever had to do in a part work and that includes doing the door arches and all the little plant on's on the Falcon. And we still have 4 more wheels to go!!! Apologies for the lack of photo's taken during the construction. I was getting rather frustrated and forgot to take them Ian23 attached the following image(s): Building: Deagostini R2D2, Eaglemoss Delorean, Deagostini E-Type

Hi Ian I really hate to tell you this but I think each pair of spokes should cross over each other before they go through the v in the wheel to the other side. :-( Mind you this is the spare wheel. Who's going to notice? Alec AlecK attached the following image(s): Happy modelling
