Well that's it for this weeks update. Stay tuned next week where I will be continuing with this part of build; fixing the mast well in place, adding bulkheads, pipe work detailing and steel bolts!

That really is some very neat and tidy building. I have been amazed at just how much scaled detail you are adding into this build and getting it all to fit in so tidy.

Morning from 'The Dockyard'.

This weeks update will continue with fitting out No.3 Main Ballast Tank [MBT]including the Search Periscope mast well and all pipework.

The attached photo shows the completed mast well as described last week being test fitted into No.3 MBT.

The next step was to fabricate three internal tank supports. I made these from 0.5mm thick plastic sheet. Marking out the correct radii i used a compass cutter to score and cut the plastic. This photo shows all three supports cut out.

I then removed all three, marked out and drilled pilot holes. These will then be enlarged to form clearance holes. In real life these holes would allow various pipework to run through the tank and also reduce weight without compromising strength.

To enlarge the holes I had to fabricate a jig to hold the pieces in place. Using an off-cut of laminate wood I fixed in two self tapping screws which the supports would butt against whilst drilling.
