I started in December but due to parts delays i am just now getting up to date.
i will have to add some photos and more details later this weekend as i have about 20 weeks of kit to put togther and get in shape.
for sure i am adding custom painting and might also swap some bits with 3d print and add some more led lights as i figure out what the kit is missing in the way of extra details...

the last weeks have been very very busy at work so very limited time to do the kit. also a lot of work in my garden ....
So i have the first packs, about half the lower hull framing and most of the standard interior bits.
wporking with them and also checking on the addons and upgrades that are out there.
seems like i will do some of them , as i am a developer and handy with soldering i am going to do a custom lighting and control package.
i have a rasbbery PI 3 and some led's and fiber optic coming.
then i can start to get the upgraded hold parts and cockpit parts from shapeways and other places.....
i will need a couple of shift latch registers to take the rasberry pi gpio and expand it to do more lights at one time.
i can run some different sets on different timers to blink, swap colors and such.
i like the addon i saw for the engine lights to have a startup cycle, i can do a version of that and have some white and some blue leds and give a running effect also i think....
as i figure out the parts i will post info in case others want to try this mod.

Started getting some parts in. i now have several feet of 3 different sizes of fiber optics. enough led's to just about cover the whole disc in led's !
i will use a rasberry Pi 3 as the controller, from the io bus i have 2 pi hats that give me 64 total pins to drive led's i do not think i need nearly that many.
i will have some sets for the red caution lights and one set of small white leds for what in the military we call 'formation lights'
another set for 'landing lights' - larger brighter lights turned on in final landing.
4 sets for the engine lights part white part blue to cycle and create an effect of the engine start up and "pulsing" while it runs.
several other led's will be RGB lights that will be able to switch colors
and a bunch of other one color led's of multiple colors.
the pi can also control the ramp servo -- i just need to get that part and see how it's done in the kit parts.
also the pi has wifi and bluetooth so i can make an app for my phone to send it commands.
a rasberry pi can be programmed from linux or it can run a version of windows 10 called windows to IOT core.
with that i will code in C# to controll the lights and any other things i add to the kit.

you can put up to 4 of them on a pi for up to 128 seperate io pins i am using 2 for 64 pins. my RGB led parts will use 3 pins for one led. regular led uses one pin. you can run multiple led's with one pin if they will all be on or off at the same time. you need a part called a resistor to limit the flow of power to the led's depending on how you wire them you may need different values. you can look up that on line on many web sites it's voltage and milliamps that have to be put into the formula to get a value for the right resistor to use. i will put up some examples later on as i get my wiring and part count worked out.

well i think i now have the fiber and led lights all ordered ....
next month i have to start ordering the shapeways parts to upgrade the cockpit, main cabin and the engine area....
i like the look of the falcon3dparts.com engine grills , but some of the other addons at shapeways are harder to pick, i think 308 bits has some complete sets of stuff....
the mod that i saw here for the ramp looks really nice also...
wish i knew more about what the wall mount does - is is adjustable ?
i have some vesa monitor mounts that can move around, if this wall mount is only to "hang it on the wall" i might see if i can modify it some....

I have purchased quite a bit of fiber optic parts from the ebay supplier you listed with a very good overall experience. For what its worth. By the way Bill, do we order the mounting bracket separately or does it come with the last issues of the Falcon?

Well i have been silent for a while on my build,
soon i will have some more to say in detail.
i now have the first 50 plus issues, all of the lower main hull parts
all of the interior stock parts
ordered a lot of upgraded interior parts, got them primed and working on detailing and assembling them.
also got all the fiber optic lines and led's .
over the next month i should have the interior lighted and built and the lower main hull lights in place.
i will need to see about getting my later issues in advance as i want to finish this before the December movie is out....
due to delays in January - march in shipping the kit my #100 as it stands would not arrive until next year.
