Stage 10 This is a long stage where we complete the planking of the lower hull. Rather than try to cram everything into one complete post for this stage I've decided to break it down in phases, hopefully by doing it this way it will be easier for other builders to follow... This update is short. To start planking the lower hull simply add two full rows ensuring you leave the 4mm gap at the bow. Trim the planks at the stern.... .. The next phase will cover the transition under the stern gallery.... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Alan Looking really good. It good that you can get so far down the bow section without having to start tapering planks. Hope it all continues well. Happy Modelling

Thanks guys, appreciate you looking in and commenting.... @Tony, I agree with you regarding the bow. This build is following the printed instructions and up to this point no tapering is done, it starts with the next row. Even with the tapering, the planking at the bow does create a clinkering effect but this is taken care of when it comes to filling and sanding. The instructions in places take a very simple approach to planking whereas more experienced builders would have started tapering well before this point.... Hope this makes sense... Regards Alan

Next we continue with the next row of planks, this is the start of transitioning under the stern gallery and getting around the bow. Study the pictures in the instructions and the text to get a good idea of what you are trying to achieve. Working to transverse under the gallery is a little tricky and to make things easier I found soaking the planks to be of great benefit. You will also find it easier if you chamfer the edge of the planks to ensure a good fit to the preceding plank. Add a complete row ensuring you taper the bow plank down to 2mm and leaving a 4mm gap at the keel. Taper the stern plank down to a point then repeat on the other side. Leave to dry fully before continuing. Now add another two rows of planks in the same way, tapering the bow plank down to 2mm and the stern planks down to a point and again leave to dry fully after each row before proceeding. Add another row of planks again tapering to 2mm at the bow, the stern plank does not need tapering. Next phase we will be fitting the garboard planks and working down....
