Looking good so far James With regards to weathering, a lot of people by a cheap kit to practice weathering techniques on before applying to the final model. If it's something you want to try it can be any kit, cheaper the better

Arrived home from work this afternoon to find the postie had arrived with issues 14-17. very happy boy indeed!! I wasted no time and cracked on with the build as there really didn't seem to be many parts at all. We continue the main build of the dome, completing the 2nd metal ring frame and starting on the 3rd layer of plastic framework. a few ankle detail bits to add to the collection in storage and some wires/cables for use later in the build. it feels a bit pointless supplying lots of bits that are not going to be used for some time. The instructions for positioning the ring frame are not very clear and it took me some time to figure out the correct position, so i shall break my images up a bit and try to explain as best as i can. Enjoy the next 4 issues! semaj attached the following image(s): Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

this is where it starts to get a bit tricky at issue 15. here is the frame test fitted in position. note that the ring connectors are facing towards the 1st ring, which is the opposite way to the 1st frame. semaj attached the following image(s): Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

Upon fitting the frame its tricky to figure out where it is positioned from the images in the mag. If you look to the right of the large square frame where the camera lens attaches there is a little tab at the bottom corner, roughly line this up with the arrow marked on the ring frame and it will fit nicely, ensure the pins on all the frames are located in the ring. semaj attached the following image(s): Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

completed issue 15. a BIG tip, grab a pair of tweezers to help get the nuts into place, as its quite tricky getting fingers in there semaj attached the following image(s): Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

issue 16 starts the 3rd layer of framework and is quite straight forward once you have worked out the correct position of the frame, as once again the mag is not very clear. To ensure you get the correct location of the frame part look just below the larger of the 2 holes in the new part to be fitted you will see a very small arrow/triangle, align this up with the largearrow on the main ring frame. semaj attached the following image(s): Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

and finally issue 17 is simply adding a further frame piece to the 3rd layer, and some random cables for use much later on. one is a motor cable, and the other is for an infrared sensor. semaj attached the following image(s): Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

Great update. I ought to be working on my build soon. I'm getting it from the local newsagent, and am working on a cosmetic makeover for him. Once I have a few of the parts painted once the weather is better, I'll set up a diary of my own for him as there are so many good builds going on. Thanks guys. Yeah im reallg enjoying the build, just such a shame there is very little indeed with each issue, one is so bad all there is is 1 plastic piece and you bolt it on with 2 screws and nuts and thats it. I wonder if its split to 100 issues to make up costs? As this could easily have been done in far less imo. Other than that i am loving it. Yeah it feels really solid and is beginning to gain some serious weight with all the metal work. I cant wait to get stuck into the electrics and sensors etc, thats whe it will start coming to life Building: Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Ford GT40, Gone in 60 seconds Eleanor mustang, Shelby Cobra Complete: R2D2, Red Bull RB7 RC, Battleship Bismarck, Shelby GT500 'super snake'

Semaj, don't forget that although we may be getting single piece issues at the moment, the issue with the metal dome is going to be a doozy! That is going to be a large, fairly heavy piece. Like you, I can't wait to get the electronics working, and think it's a shame that we don't know the screws required to put in the projector lens and the LED set that we already have - after all, they should be able to be fitted now, and it would also add to the look without adding in any more parts with the latest issues. Still, the final effect will be the same, and it gives me a bit more time to get some of the paintwork done on mine. it wasnt a major complaint as such, just a gripe. and i know its not unusual to get issues like that, i no stranger to how these work as i have done many over the years, and in the end the finished result is awesome, its just one thing that always bugs me. Great tips on lining up frame, with mine I'd made a mistake with previous frame positions, so helps to ensure you have that right first. But you are right with arrows, no mention of them in build, you would have thought describing them may have helped. If you build it he will come Built - Eaglemoss 3D Printer.
