Hello everyone, I'm at the stage in my build prior to doing any painting. But I'm really looking forward to giving my ship its yellow and black stripes. But my only issue is deciding what to do with the colour scheme based on the new research revealing the Victorys original trafalgar colours. I don't know whether to use the traditional yellow orcha, or this new/old pale yellow. The thing is I want my model to be as authentic as possible. But my heart tells me I love and prefer the yellow orcha. So I'm just wondering what everyone else is doing? What are your thoughts on the colours? darkwoodster attached the following image(s):

I looked at this some months ago to try and get details of what the true colours are in relation to paint matching. Got no responses from the couple of places i contacted and further to that i would expect to see the likes of cornwall model boats coming up with the alternatives but nothing so far. So if i was at a painting stage i would stick with the originals as its a scheme that i think just about everyone is familiar with even if the authorities say its not accurate. But at the end if the day its your model so you make it the way you would like as that in itself has to be the right decision. Happy Modelling

It's unlikely a beige colour match model paint will ever be produced, simple reason being that the general opinion is the beige looks odd and therefore no demand for it. Even then, it's what is only thought, which in a few years time could well change to being a different shade. What was thought cant take into account the effects of sea/sun weathering and therefore the original paint shade could well have looked different to the beige currently depicted.

I am off to Portsmouth in two weeks time and will ask the staff at the Victory what they think and will report what they say . I must admit I think the salmon pink slash beige is horrible Rgd Martyn Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Sovereign of the Seas . Virginia . Scotland . San Felipe . For me Victory is yellow and black stripes and I just couldn't see myself building her in her new colours, she just doesn't look the same..... ... Just my preference you understand and am sure whichever way you decide to go she'll look just great.... Regards Alan

Thanks for your replies. I must agree with you all. I don't feel we can ever be 100% certain of the actual colour. I am planning to tour the ship this summer. So I will look forward to seeing the colour in the flesh. But I'm 95% sure my model will be getting the yellow orcha jobby.
Thanks
