Yes Carl,
I have built it and have used it to display my Revell Saturn V 5 in my classroom for years. The paper sags over time. A Deagostini built Saturn V 5 with the LUT made from Resin would be the best! Im Working on the Millennium Falcon at the moment.

I built one too and you are right the paper doesnt last very well.I have a very rare brass and plastic kit of a 1/144 Saturn V LUT made by a company called launchcomplex models. It was a limited edition of 50 kits and is dozens of sheets of photoetched brass parts for each level and arms with plastic pasts for the beams. The guy making the kits just disappeared after he sent the kits out so there are no instructions with it and it is a bit daunting to build so I havent done anything with it yet.

LVM studios is designing a photoetched brass LUT kit, but there is no release date yet. I am building their Baikonur R7 launch complex kit at the moment.It is REALLY nice.If they ever release the LUT it will be a stunner I am sure.

here is a link to LVMs LUT information;

I think a partwork of an LUT would be a great idea.

I hope you will post some pictures of your falcon build here on the forum.

Carl

It would be nice to do something to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing in 2019

by sheer coincidence this has appeared

http://www.space.com/366...go-set-in-pictures.html

Inside the box: exactly 1,969 pieces — a clever nod to the year of the first moon landing, by the crew of Apollo 11, in July 1969.
Current builds: Eaglemoss DeLorean, Deagostini R2 D2 Build

I may do my launchomplexmodels build for that.I was thinking of getting a 3d scanner so I could scan the parts and make a 3d printed kit.

DeAgostini MODEL SPACE should just make the LUT (Launch Umbilical Tower) and the Saturn V 5 rocket To go with it in 1/96 scale. Now, that would be a nice 50th Anniversary space model put out by MODEL SPACE. That would be a Model to be displayed with pride and honor.

There isn't enough mass market appeal to make this a viable partwork.

WOW, that's too bad! It was the only launch vehicle that brought humans to another celestial body. All other space ships are just fiction.
