Shame to see such things just sitting there, neglected. They should be in motion ........... or maybe motion pictures? Wouldn't it be a bit of a coup for a studio to buy one, clean it and repair it then use it as a set in a movie or series of movies. In the state it's in, I bet they could get one real cheap - although the P&P would be a killer! What a shame...Sad that the Russians didn't employ them at the same time as the American shuttle..Just imagine how big the ISS would have grown with both countries adding modules to the space station doubling or trebling the present crew size! But, me thinks that the Russian version of the shuttle suffered bad technical problems forcing them to abandon their shuttle project??? Shame though...Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

I know some aerospace engineers think the Buran was a better design than the Shuttle because it didnt have the main engines as part of the orbiter. They were on the stack instead.

Thats increasingly the opinion The launcher especially was very advanced and could have seriously progressed plans to get to Mars. Often described as a copy it was not really, the soviets never thought that Buran would replace conventional rockets. but it does have some tech the Americans still have not developed. I seem to recall the program is not funded but not actually officially cancelled as late as 2015 there was talk of picking t back up. real shame the economics of the 1990s got in the way Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

It made a lot more sense to have the main engines on the booster rocket instead of the Orbiter. The russians had to do it that way because their solid rocket booster design was not as advanced as the USA. Here is a nice comparison article. http://jalopnik.com/did-...e-than-we-did-1713379466
