Just gorgeous, Walter. Wish I'd have done that now. You might want to think about putting real trenails in for the main deck as well.

Thanks guys!

@John: Actually i thought about that a long time but then decided not to show the nails at all. I don`t really think you can show them in the right scale - other than small pencil-dots - as i did it with the upper gun deck (which i dont`t find very beautiful).

I finally let my wife decide - and she said i should leave the deck as it is :))

Greetings,
Walter

You are right Walter, scale is the demon of doing these models at times but, on balance I thought it looked pretty good and daily easy to do.

The first picture is my completed deck and the second is one I took on the Victory's main deck a few years ago. I could have certainly made mine a little better using a smaller drill size.

BTW, you may need to refresh a number of times as I had to put up an attachment which doesn't seem to work on this forum and the owners don't seem minded to fix it. Sorry.

Well i must admit your nails look pretty much like the real thing! Very beautiful!

But i still won`t go that way because i must admit it`s too much work for me - i already glued thousands of copper plates to the hull - i don`t want to drill hundreds of holes into my deck now! :))
Greetings,
Walter

I really love how your deck has turned out Walter. Using a black base has really added to the effect of caulking showing through Cool

Worth noting that Victorys upper decks actually come from a royal hatch and are neither the correct timber or the correct width. if you look at pics of the middle gun deck which has original planking you will see the tree nails all have little crosses on the top from the tool used to hammer them home.

your deck looks fabulous by the wayBigGrin Drool

Now that i`m finished with my gun-tutorial i can post the next update.

Next up were the cabin walls.

i also realized that there was an additional companionway in front of the main cabin entrance.

As i read somewhere that this often was covered i simulated it with some kitchen towel. i wasn`t very careful because it will barely be seen once the poop deck is installed.
