Hi All The other bulwark was trimmed back and then the two doors on the inner face of each the paddle boxes were added along with handles and hinges made from 2 dome head nails and 3mm lengths of brass wire. The paddle boxes were then fixed in place on the hull and the front and rear decks planked and the front side runner added. The bow had the two side beaks added along with the side stringers. Hi all The bow was finished off with the 2 x 1mm strip this also follows through to become the rubbing strip along the hull. The strip has been applied to both sides of the paddle boxes the middle strip on the paddle boxes will be added after the paddles are fixed in place. Next the gallery was made up the sides are of soft cast white metal the transom is made of a pre-shaped part and strip wood. Takes some fare fettling to get the side gallery's in place but once in place they look quite good. As the side gallery's are metal its a case of either painting them brown or doing what I decided to do. The Sardic Navy Flag is red and blue so the gallery tops/bottoms were painted blue with the window bars painted red along with the red and blue added to the bow. Just the right amount of colour to enhance the natural wood tones finish of the hull. The lower hull below the rubbing strake has now had 3 coats of gloss varnish which has popped the wood quite nicely. Next the four ply paddle wheel housings were made up and planked then the hinges and handles added before placing on the paddle boxes. Once the houses were in place the the weather strips were added to the deck sides on the bulwarks along with the central deck step planking/edgework. The last things to be attached were the bulwark frames. More soon. that looks very nice Andy. If you do not mind me asking what type of varnish do you use (water based or solvent?). Think your idea of painting the stern gallery is a good one as it adds a very nice splash of colour that works just perfectly. Happy Modelling
