Hi Allan! Cool

I would say make the real keel, hawsehole, stem reinforcements and the area between the dolphin's match the lower hull planks. The dolpin's would be made to match the wales.

the wales are the same color as the lower hull now lol so i was thinking the real keel the same color as the wales and the lower hull and the dolphin's a lighter color to make them stand outBigGrin

Hi Allan! Cool

So you've already fitted your wales ok! then you are right to think of doing the dolphin's another colour to make them stand out. When doing a natural wood finish you should workout the colours first, what woods will be used for the different section and what parts will need to be stained.

For me this means that what is painted black on the painted version e.g. wales & dolphins will be made from walnut then stained with a dark walnut stain to get a strong contrast as the lower hull is also walnut. I'm only using Lime, Maple and walnut, other parts will get stain to change the colour of these woods.
