Good Evening from 'The Dockyard'. This weeks log of my U230 U-boat build will be making the trim that sits above the Senior Rates Mess. This part is scratch built and continues the theme running along all of the compartments so far. I started by making the backing piece from 0.25mm thick plastic sheet. The next task was to add the border using 1mm square strip. In the photo you can see that I held the border in place using clips to ensure it ran true to the backing piece edge. I left it slightly over length as it was easier to trim once fixed rather than try to get the ends to align. Once the two longest borders were trimmed I made the end pieces in the same fashion. Once this was done I began to add the transverse strips. These were made with 2.0mm wide x 0.5mm thick strip. The spacing between these tranverse strips was 8.5mm. They were all cut as I went so that each piece fitted correctly. The photo shows the end border in place and the first transvers strip cut and ready for fitting.
