What ship model to build is as much import (if not more) then in which size to build a model. I thought I better first see what is available and then decide about size later on.

From this site I am mostly interested in the HMS Victory and the San Francisco. I ditched the HMS Victory because it is too big. The San Francisco II is very nice. It reminds me of those ships that used to navigate in the Spanish Main. I love this period a lot and therefore I am mostly interested in models of this epoch.

I did find another similar model; the San Martin, not on this website however. I was wondering, does anyone know of any ship models of this era? Maybe representing ships with a rich history!!

Also what do you people think about the quality of the San Francisco? As I am right now, if I do not find anything better, I think I am going to go for the San Francisco - even though as from what I read on wikipedia this ship never touched the Spanish Main!

Which ship you build is going to be a matter for personal preference as you discussed in the other thread. A convenient way of finding out which kits are available might be to go to Cornwall Model Boats Static display Kits

This will give you a convenient web page with links to several kit manufacturers. You can then see what there is that you might be interested in. Whether you order from CMB or choose a more convenient supplier for Malta is up to you.

BTW I have no connection with CMB other than as a satisfied customer.

Hi,
If you like a challenge but is ideal for intermediate modellers to beginners then the HMS Fly or Pegusus by Victory models are superb kits.(Online Hobbies or CMB) Also the Model shipways Brig syren(Model Expo) his one comes with a massive instruction book and practicum explaining everything possible.

Chris..
