Great to see this underway Cool

The end result being 1.5m long and half this in height, It could be a very frustrating struggle construct in such a confined space in terms of moveing it aroind to work on both sides, could also be a struggle to bring the completed build out of the loft workspace area.

Good luck with her and watching with interest Cool

Thanks for your thoughts Tomick, I have put some thought to that. I have rigged up a mobile work desk that I can walk all the way around. I can build her in the attic up to the point I have to fix the masts. So she will be rigged in the kitchen

Thanks for looking in Mark, it is good to be able to take your own picks as other photos tend to be quite general

Looking forward to this one!

Hi Robin, Yes she is based on clipper ship design for speed it was that combination of speed and stable gun platform that made her so menacing.

The deck is fitted as 4 parts. there is a location lug at the stern, but ensuring the deck was fitted correctly aligned over such a length was a little testingMellow I think some more location lugs on the rib formers would have been quite helpful. once fitted I have found that the openings in the false deck for the masts are not alined with the slots in the frames and I am not talking point something of a millimetre but 3mm. before I lay the deck I am going to have to extend the mast holes then correct the holes with the deckingCursing

I have started adding fillets of balsa wood to aid shaping the bow. the model is single planked with half of the planking being ply. on the real ship the iron plates stop at the upper deck level and traditional planking in teak is used. I will have to add a veneer of planking as well as the iron plates.

From time to time I will post a little history on HMS Warrior, when I am working on different bits of the model

I thought a good place to start would be her role in the transition from a Wooden ship navy to a steel on. this documentary deals with a lot of myths around this time and is rather good
