Greetings!

This is my first go at this type of week by week model. Up until now I have been a plastic kits builder. I'm looking forward to this new challenge and will post all my updates here.

First up the issues I received along with a free R2-D2 USB stick. That will come in handy for storing photos of my builds.

That's all for now. I'll post progress pictures as soon as I get started.

Good to see you've got your first parts through BigGrin

You should find any problems assembling it if you follow the instructions and the official build diary Cool

Greetings!

Myself and my two sons finally got underway.

I showed them the parts and instructions in the magazine. We also watched the You Tube tutorial so everyone has a good idea of what we're getting in to. I plan to do this for all the parts of the build.

Starting with the processor state indicator. There are 3 screws which is convenient given there are 3 of us completing the build.

A fairly simple start but that makes it a good introduction for the boys.

No problems with issue 2. Some superglue was required and everything went together nicely.

At the moment the shoulder plate is not ready to be attached to the arm. I'm told that will be in a later issue. For now a dry fit proved this will go together nicely.

On to Issue 3. No screws or superglue involved here. The blue outer casing is placed over the leg attaching by 6 pins in the back of it.

Next is the lens and faceplate construction. I decided to leave this for now. It involves removing a protective film from the lens and test fitting it. However this is not actually required until stage 10. I didn't want to remove the protective film until it is necessary.

We did however attach an extension to the side of the faceplate.

Issue 4 provided a battery box with which we can test the LED panel from Issue 1. This was simply a case of installing 3 AA batteries and hooking it up to the circuit board.

Testing the blue light:

The red light:

Finally both lights:

Also with this issue was the right ankle plate and leg pivot cover. These were just clipped on for the time being. They will be fixed permanently at a later date.

So altogether for now:

I have a question on the rear holographic projector from issue 9.

Is it right that the projector pivot is currently not attached to the rest of the projector? Is it loose for the time being and will be attached at a later stage?
