The largest American retailer of Gundam kits is actually located in Palisades Park NY. Me and a few friends are planning a road trip there later this year. I will let you know when we plan to go and you can meet us there if you like. It totally worth seeing even if you don't buy anything.

I was on the Palisades parkway yesterday on my way home from Long Island. It is about a 5 hour drive from my home!!

Ah yes iI have one of those. Not a bad kit for a first one. It's an older MG and a bit simpler then the new ones but still fun. Comes from my all time favorite Gundam series. That's one that I am only partly painting. I decided to make the blue a brighter color and match the other two gundams from the series that I have. Can't wait to see how you tackle that.

Here is the first part of the head build. The eye is supposed to have a red decal but when I peeled it off it didn't have any sticky. Oh well not gonna stress about it.

Ok now for the final parts for the head. You will notice that there are two different skull caps and two different antenna. Bandai likes to include extra parts on the grunt mechs so that if you are so inclined you can army builds. The cap without the antenna slot are for grunts. The one with the slot are for the higher in command. It give the higher ranking officers better communication package and an easy visual identification on the battlefield. The difference between antenna are for captain/commander and the lower ranking officer. I don't know off had what their official designations are in the fictional universe. I could look it up if any is really interested in that information.

I choose the slotted cap and the higher ranking antenna because I like the look and it's what's on the box art.

This completes the head.

These kits are designed to be press fit. However you do find some pieces from time to time that could use a bit of glue. Usually on the smaller kits.

Updated photo. The last assembly just didn't feel right when I finished it. Then when I tried to work on the next step it wasn't feeling right either. So traced my steps back and noticed I had attached a section slightly off. Gonna chalk it up to late night speed building. The photo below is how it looks the correct way.

Wasn't planning on showing another hose build after I did the first one but this one was a bit different. This time instead of it sliding everything over I had to connect a spring and a end piece and then slide everything over. Cool bit of work but a little fiddly to work with.

Fifth and final part of the right leg assembly. With this part finished I have completed my first spru tree. Quite a few more sprus will be empty after the left leg is done.

Since the left leg is exactly the same build wise as the right and this is a speed build. I decided not to post up photos of the build process. So here is a photo of the left leg complete and mounted on the rest of the body.
