Hi All, Another small update. I finally made a start on the ships boats. I think that I really have been avoiding them. The best thing to do in those situations is just to start!!! I am taking the construction of the launch received around Issues 6 a little further – and the other three will follow. My thinking here is that I will iron out any snags along the way – hopefully. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.

Looking like a good start Garth. With the excellent job you have done on the ship, I don't think these will give you many problems. Looking forward to your updates. Alan. Today is the tomorrow you wished for yesterday!

Hi All, Did some more work on the smaller boats. I used the orbital sander to do the fairing – it seemed to be less stressful on the ribs. Thanks to Gordon for his advice on turning a soldering iron into a plank bender. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.

Hi All, Another small update today. I have been jumping around the issues again. The small boats have been getting the better of me. I decided to do something that requires less fine motor skills. I did some work on Issue 119 and fitted the Dummy guns. I can’t remember who's thread I read it on, but somebody suggested using a pin vice to fit the Dummy guns, rather than the toothpick as suggested. This was a great help. I used some brass rod as mandrels that fitted into the gun barrel openings. The pin-vice provided the support required to push the gun barrels into their drilled holes. A word of caution though. Be careful not to crush the gun port lids on the opposite side of the hull when pushing the pin-vice. I also fitted the rudder chains. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.

Hi Ian, Thank you for looking in and for the kind words. Still finding any reason not to work on the small boats. I tackled Issue 117. Made the Studding sail booms and fitted the Bowsprit sails. After that I completed the rigging on the sails and the bowlines. Time taken 2.5 hours. Kind regards, Garth Garth attached the following image(s): "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.
