I then had to remove sections of it to accommodate the vertical mdf supports. The cuts were rough but at this stage i just wanted to gauge how it looked and work out how i was going to strengthen and support it.  The attached photos show were i had cut. Once i had the shell sitting about right within the torpedo compartment, i marked it's edge onto the inside of the planked hull. I proceeded to glue in plastic strip along that mark so that the edge of the shell had something to butt up against. The attached photo shows the strips being fitted. By using the other half of the semi-circular templates, i could butt them up against the supports and begin to gauge the shape and size of the supports to fit underneath the shell. This photo shows one of the supports to fit under the shell where No.1 template is positioned. This piece, although simple looking, took nearly an hour to make. I had to continuously offer it up against the template to obtain the correct profile, while both were free floating and not fixed. Very time consuming!
