I then carried on in this fashion for No.3 template only realise that the shell was being thrown out by these curved supports. No3. template was now too far over to the open edge, totally throwing out the alignment of the curve!  . Furthermore, i had booked a day off to concentrate on this section with high hopes of making progress, only to end up with 6 curved supports that weren't working after 6 hours of filing bits here and there!  So, the next evening i removed them all  and decided to start again with a fresh perspective. The first job was to add strength to the shell so that i could properly gauge it's fit and work from there. I glued a 3mm square strip along the edge that's closest to the opening. Using clips to hold and align it correctly i could glue it accurately. This photo shows the strip clipped in place. I then realised that the extra size cut outs i had made in the shell, to allow for the vertical frames, would allow me to measure with more accuracy the size of the supports to fit the underside. I pushed a 4.0mm x 2.0mm strip through the gap and marked on it where the natural curve of the shell was. I now had a plan!  Once cut, i glued it to another piece to really widen it out and offer maximum support for the shell. This was a much quicker process than i had with the curved supports mentioned before. After many trial fits of the shell /hull, i was happy that everything aligned and was being properly supported. Before fitting the shell, i removed as much as i dare of the internal semi-circular templates as they had now done their job. Leaving a small section of each, they would still maintain the hull curve while the glue cures. The idea being that when the glue dries i can proceed to file the remainder of the templates away leaving a nice, smooth curve. This photo shows the templates cut right back, but still maintaining the curve. I then removed the hull, applied liberal amounts of PVA on all of the hull supports and refitted it. I ran a bead of cyanoacrylate along the open edge to act as a tack weld and hold the hull correctly while the PVA cures. I also placed small nuts and bolts in the bottom of the curve to ensure it's apex makes contact with the mdf underneath and the long running supports. Once all of that is dry, i will file away the remainder of the semi-circular templates i mentioned before. I can then fix a 0.5mm thick piece of plastic sheet on the inside of the shell/hub to make it really strong and robust. It will then be ready for the t-frames, fixtures and fittings. Nice work Phil. There is quite a lot of PE on this build which does make a marked difference when added. Well done mate. Chris  On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.
