This method doesn't require using double-sided tape and the whole thing takes about 15 minutes to complete.

- Thread the spokes through the first layer all at once, don't try to place the other end in the right spot on the rim. Let them just dangle there.
- After getting first one through just make sure it is oriented OK, so that the bent tip on the other end will wrap around the longer tab - on my first try I got them all shifted by one, so they were fitting over the shorter tabs.
- Push a small ball made of blutack into the hub, to prevent the spokes from sliding out
- Turn over the whole assembly, the spokes should just glide almost into the right place
- Use a small screwdriver or tweezers to pull the ends of the spokes over the small tabs on the rim
- Assemble the rim, put the tyre on, done.

I don't have these parts yet but sounds a good approach.

I had real problems with these spokes. After spending a good many hours trying to work through it i had resigned myself to the fact the actual spokes were just a little too short. I was really having to force fit them and was in real danger of breaking something. Eventually i came to the conclusion the centre hub (where the spokes are initial passed through) was not secure. Any pressure applied to pull the spoke through was moving it off the vertical. It was also moving round in a circular motion but albeit by a very small amount. I ended up securing the centre hub with super glue and clamping in place. From that point on the spokes were installed quite quickly although it was still a considerable effort to pull them over the lugs in the outer rim. I certainly did not need to use double sided tape!!
Learned a lot doing this spare wheel so hopefully I am better prepared for the others later on in the build

Hi Spyder

This was the same conclusion I came to. In a previous thread I posted a similar method to the one Michu describes above for part 5 and it didn't seem too difficult. Someone then mentioned that I only had a two spoke crossover in part 4. I took apart parts 4 and 5 and re-did part 4 with the three spoke crossover. This altered the whole physicality of part 5 as the centre hub was now completely rigid from part 4, meaning the spokes had further to go.
I too spent a great many hours on part 5. I even scratched a little of the chrome plating off trying to force the spokes into place. I'm hoping this will be good experience for the next wheel but not certain.
Happy modelling

Alec
