This method doesn't require using double-sided tape and the whole thing takes about 15 minutes to complete.
- Thread the spokes through the first layer all at once, don't try to place the other end in the right spot on the rim. Let them just dangle there.
- After getting first one through just make sure it is oriented OK, so that the bent tip on the other end will wrap around the longer tab - on my first try I got them all shifted by one, so they were fitting over the shorter tabs.
- Push a small ball made of blutack into the hub, to prevent the spokes from sliding out
- Turn over the whole assembly, the spokes should just glide almost into the right place
- Use a small screwdriver or tweezers to pull the ends of the spokes over the small tabs on the rim
- Assemble the rim, put the tyre on, done.
