I then proceeded to make small sections of t-frame to fit on the lower half of the hull giving the impression that the U-boat was sliced through. It also carries on the theme I used for the other compartments as mentioned in a previous thread. I glued them oversize to make them easier to handle whilst fixing before sanding smooth and flush. That concludes this update. I still have the internal bulkheads and deck to fit before the Torpedo Compartment is ready for undercoating. I will more than likely post another update this week before returning to my regular Wednesday / Thursday next week. Light at the end of a tunnel a last!  The Torpedo Compartment has taken many weeks to get to this stage and i'm not far off getting it to the stage of undercoating. I want to undercoat all of the U-boat in one session so the next two to three weeks will be fitting the part-works supplied etch for the hull sides, a few running repairs, fitting the rudder mount and making a tank profile for the Aft Torpedo Loading Compartment. When all that is done it's time for the rivets and weld lines. These will be applied last as the undercoat seals them in place and fitting them earlier in the build would of resulted in several being knocked off during handling. Good afternoon from 'The Dockyard'. Another post this week after which i'll be back to my regular Thursday updates. This post continues with fitting out the Torpedo Compartment and fixing the brass strips supplied by the part-works to the bow section. I decided to try and fit a resin AMP I bought as a set from a German supplier a couple of years ago. The part in question forms a section located on the port side of the torpedo tubes. Due to the fact that I have now fitted the inner pressure hull and t-frames, i was conscious that the diameter would change how the part located. First job was to saw a strip from the top of the part to allow for the new hull diameter. I then recessed the top so the part would sit around the t-frames. After much 'umming and arring'  it was clear that the part would not fit correctly and a new approach was required..... I then referenced some photos of U995 to see how this was configured. It turned out it wasn't fitted, having all it's valves and pipework bolted directly to the t-frames. I decided to follow the same route meaning I now had to scratch build part of the inner hull and extend the t-frames. First job was to install a datum edge for the new, inner hull section to sit against. I made it using 2.0mm square strip. The attached photo shows the datum piece fixed in place. I used the pressure hull t-frame off cuts to make the new ones. In this photo you can see the first of three t-frames fitted. I tried to match it's curve with the existing t-frame as best I could. My thinking at the time was that I could add filler to the gap and file out a curve between the two. Box section completed. Regarding the t-frames and matching them to the originals, instead of using filler I simply glued a small strip of 0.25mm plastic to cover the join on each.
