I see that my pictures have been blocked on my build Log, I checked Magpie's and his is the same. Photobucket want $399 to upgrade, Does this mean my pictures will no longer be available on my log. Any help would be appreciated Mo Mo

Hi Mo Yes it’s a pain in the rear that they did this. What you need to do is download all your pictures off photo bucket , resize them to 600x337 and then attach them to the post using the forums own uploader. I will be doing mine soon as have over 1000 images to redo. Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Totally Gutted!! I have seven years of postings on Model Space all destroyed after all the pictures had been erased...All that work!! I have not got the time to even contemplate how to replace them!! Thanks to good hearted well respected member of this forum who kindly PM'd me, I wouldn't have known about the missing pictures. Can somebody please PM me and give me some guidance on how to transfer my pictures from my PC to Model Space in a way that I can understand as I am not that computer savvy. I will have to try and put together some resemblance of a build diary to keep folks up in the loop about what I am doing. I will never trust another picture hosting site again!! Very angry!! Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Can understand your frustration over this, it has left many members angry and unfortunately there is no easy way to resolve. My recommendation is to upload your pics using the forums own facility, this way you will know the images are safe, secure and free from charges. Start by going through this link, try doing a test post and am sure you'll find once you have done it a couple of times then the process will become second nature.... http://forum.model-space....aspx?g=posts&t=244
You would have to edit each post, remove the direct link to the pic within the body of the post then upload the replacement pics for that post using the 'Attach' button. You may also have to adjust the body of the text so everything makes sense. The downside is the post cannot have text in between pics. This will be a time consuming process but something that can be done a little at a time... Have a look and come back to me if needed.... Like you, I wouldn't go near any file sharing site for storing pics, just wouldn't trust them.... Hope this helps.. Regards Alan

Thanks Alan for the information, I downloaded the opening picture to my SOTS build diary, it works though it was a bit big!!...Apart from the resizing bit that does not seem to work on my PC I guess trial and error, but its going to be a slow and daunting task replacing the pictures...Thanks again mate for all your help...Don't know what I would have done without it...I was on the verge of giving up on the whole thing!!.. Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

A petition has been started to try and get the Photobucket decision reversed..
https://www.change.org/p...bucket-third-party-rule
Only problem is that its pointless signing it if you've already removed your photos from the site or closed your account, as in effect the photos won't re-appear if by remote chance the decision gets reversed., Even so, why on earth would anyone want to stay with a host that pulled such a stunt in the first place, which has decimated peoples hard work across the net?

I agree..But the damage is done and I have lost 7 years of picture postings on Model Space turning my build diaries into nothing but gibberish!! Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

There lucky it's not a petition of a class lawsuit for the damage done as I'm sure that many thousands feel the same as you

I'm sure that somewhere in their terms and conditions, which everyone will have agreed to, they will say that they can do what they like, whenever they like and so petitions will be useless. What surprises me is that they have been so draconian over this. With a little more thought, I'm sure that with a reasonable charge, many people would have stayed and they make more money. Generally speaking in business, it is never a good idea to do something the both Putes off you customers and leaves them worse off without a way back.
Having said that, theses companies, including DeAg, are not charities so be careful how much investment you put into them and try to work out what the worst case scenario might be and what backup you need. I think we will see the same with cloud storage, which I also use. Something will happen to one of them soon I think and a lot of people will be left in the cold without a fall back. If you use them, work out all you options now, not after the event.

No business is a charity and its unfair to link DeAg into the Photobucket scenario when your comment is regarding 3rd party host companies that may or may not introduce a fee. - DeAgostini most certainly won't

The only link was to say that you were both businesses, that make business decisions and nothing is ever given away for free, as I have said on previous occasions. Everything is paid for by customers.
Obviously, how you go about running your business is entirely up to you.
