Ahoy fellow shipwrights  I keep looking at the DA Victory to build alongside my Trinny. I keep dithering because it is only single planked and i worry about making a hash of it. At least with double planking i could (hopefully) make a better job of it. It's the way the planking wraps around the stern that frightens me  . I saw an advert for the Caldercraft Victory and wondered if anyone had experience of building that one, being double planked? I know i wouldn't have the benefit of the excellent build diaries on this forum, but is it do-able for a novice, if i learn from my Trinny build? Thanks in advance Regards Gray

The Caldercraft Victory is not a first or second period ship to take on as its instructions assume that you have all the skills and understanding to take on such, which the novice modeller will struggle to achieve.
The single planking on the DA Victory is not a problem if you decide to copper paint of copper tile the hull. However, if you want a natural planked finish, great care will need to be taken when setting the hull planks for the best end result. The hull planking instructions are by far the best there is its in step-by-step format and covers all aspects of hull planking, even more so than the Trinny.

Thanks for the reply Mr T. Ideallty i would like to display the wood. Might be an idea to see how i fair planking the Trinny and then decide if i could take on a single-planked hull. it's all a learning curve after all. Regards Gray
