Hi all,
This is my first attempt at building any sort of model, since I was about 8, which is more years ago than I care to remember. During that process I always seemed to end up with more glue and paint on me that the kit I was butchering!
Anyway, I decided I wanted to have a go at painting this model to get a proper looking finish and not just ending up with it looking like plastic. From there, it was a small step to giving it a worn and beaten-up type of look.
I would be grateful if anyone could give me any ideas or suggestions as to what is the best way to achieve this over what I've managed to do already. I've had a bit of a go and not too sure if it "works" so any input from more experienced modellers would be appreciated!

Liking this a lot, really does look beaten up as you say, even the metal bits look as though they are pretty ancient BigGrin

Hi Gasper, BigGrin

Welcome to the forum and a great choice with the R2 build.Cool

I like the weathering and think mine will look very similar when my cats see it moving for the first time. LOL LOL

Congrats on your "Blue" medal for starting your diary.

Welcome to the forum Gasper.

I think what you have done so far has achieved the worn and beaten up look quite nicely, if you continue how you are with the rest of the build I think you'll achieve exactly what you're trying for Cool

Welcome to the build Gasper. Great weathering and looking excellent. I'm doing something very similar on the official custom build if you want to have a look. But from what I can see you've already done, I don't think you have any worries. BigGrin ThumpUp

Welcome to the forum. You don't seem to need help with the weathering, from what I can see you are doing a great job.

Thanks for the nice comments everbody, and Mark, tbh it was seeing yours that tipped me towards having a go at weathering if I'm being perfectly honest! BigGrin

Just received the latest instalments that include the projector. Built it up as instructed but after testing, I'm not getting the Leia images. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Ah ok, thanks for that. Shorting the pins does produce the image.
