Please - can we have a thread that doesn't include Amy Pond, Jodie Whittaker and skirts all in the same place.
My brain is going into meltdown...

Bring on the Dalek!

It's going to start soon, Roy. I should be finished with transferring all my pictures to Imgur tonight or tomorrow, then I should be able to start on the Dalek by Saturday.

[I will be 'cheating' a little. I already have some of the pictures I will be using, and some of the parts made up, for the version I will be making. I say this to prevent brain-melt when I make a movie version Dalek with the components from a TV version. (Or maybe I'll end up doing a really strange TV Gold Dalek. I've got to make up my mind yet.)]

Build has indeed started, but I have had a week helping my elderly mother and had hoped to be doing some of the airbrush painting when I was down there as otherwise I am at the mercy of the British weather. Unfortunately the majority of the painting I did do was with a 2" brush, not an airbrush.

Still, the weather report looks good for this weekend, and I should be able to get the pictures of the work I have done put up tonight, so I should be able to start the thread before Sunday.

Yes. As always, my Daleks are Black. This one in particular will be the version from the first movie, "Doctor Who and the Daleks" starring Peter Cushing as the Doctor.

This means a black skirt with gold base, alternating gold and silver hemispheres, gold shoulder and neck rings and gold eyestalk. 'Sink Plunger' appendage, with the arm for that and the gun being in gold.

Will be interested to see this one.

I had a couple of comet miniature items a few years ago but most were out of my price bracket.

Another range i used to think were really good as well were the vinyl kits by (was it ?) "Sevens".

Hope it all starts well.
Happy Modelling

Yes, I have a couple of Stuart's creations - Captains Black and Scarlet. His Daleks were larger, but thermoformed and therefore need much more base skill to put together, but all were wonderfull items to look at when finished.

I ordered my resin Thunderbirds kits for timelesshobbies which I believe was run by Tony James from Comet miniatures.Tony was an interesting character by all accounts.I know some USa friends that had some run ins with him trying to order stuff.

There used to be a model store on Long Island which was similar to Comet miniatures. There were thousands of kits stacked from floor to ceiling .You could barely walk through the store. The owner knew exactly where everything was.You could walk up to the counter and ask for a particular kit and after he interrogated you about which release etc... he would give you directions to find it in the store. He was always spot on too.He eventually went out of business like most model stores due to increasing competition from the internet.
