Hi everyone, not really a fan of photo etch don't like cutting it bending it or glueing it but this is quite nice stuff. The grills are nicely rendered yet thick enough to file smooth without distorting them .The raised grills needed bending but meng provide us with a two part former where you place the etch inbetween and just squeeze together, works quite well. nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

The kit etch looks great, the former is always handy, keep it for future projects! Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Very nice work indeed. I find that etch is sometimes overkill. I do use it, but I am selective on what I use as the kit part can have better detail than the etch replacing it.

Very nice work nightwisher, that etch bending part works a treat and is quite a nifty idea on the part of the manufacturer.
I agree with Daran, blindly using every piece of etch just because it's on the fret isn't necessarily the best way to go, as very often you are trying to replace a 3D part a piece of 2D etch which isn't always an improvement over the kit part? Best to cherry pick the best bits of both the kit and the etch for the ultimate blend of both detail and correct scale thickness?
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the encouraging comments guys,I am especially happy you armour specialists like what I'm doing. Dave I will be attempting the three colour ambush cammo scheme,a tad ambitious maybe ,considering I am still new to airbrushing. You're doing fine Nightwisher, and don't worry too much about the three colour camo scheme possibly being above your skill set, it won't be. One of the great things about armour modelling is that in reality most of the armour was painted in the field with whatever could be found so was never perfect, or it was covered in muck and weathering and the camo scheme couldn't be seen in any great detail anyway. If you make a mistake when airbrushing, just stop and consider whether it could easily be sprayed over or adjusted or maybe even cover it with some stowage or mud/dust and you can always touch up some slight overspray with a 'hairy stick' (brush) if needs be ? Even if your camo as sprayed doesn't match the diagram in the instructions, that doesn't mean yours is wrong as no two tanks were ever painted exactly the same, they were just vaguely similar, and that's all you need to aim for?
Hope that helps?

Nice one kev ,Thanks for those encouraging words, have just ordered the paint.Had a go at the tracks the weekend ,meng provide us with a former to help get the correct sag and it works quite well .I used the wheels to form the curves of the lower run and joined them together with the longer parts .I plan on leaving the tracks in half until after painting and will proberbley leave the skirts off until the tracks are fitted. nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Back again for another update .Finished both sides of the track, very pleased with the fit ,Just wedged on with a bit of cardboard for now.Started on the turret, the parts are an excellent fit just needed a bit of filler around the front armour plate (this may have been my fault) here are a few pics. nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Coming along nicely, the tracks look spot on with the amount of sag.

Kit looks great, the surface texturing is good, often overdone on some kits but not on this one. The moulded on rain guard on the gun sight looks a little thick to me I would be tempted to relplace with some thin plastic card. great build keep the pics coming Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
