People will find a way around it, and will scalpe them. I hope people don't expect them to shoot up in value. The old one didn't until it was sold out and this one will probably be flooded on the marked since everyone will want one in hopes of making quick cash. Still I am hoping to get my hands on one. I had to sell my last one and never got to build it. DeAgostini kit builds:

I don't want to give off a negative vibe always debating the cost of a lego set. However I have been buying and building lego models at hobby level for 9 years now. If you do the math the set comes out to roughly $0.10 a piece not taking into account packaging and all others things needed to produce this set. As a member of a lego club we get a once a year, bulk purchase at cost, direct from Denmark. Even then some of the parts coast more then $0.10. Some cost a little as a penny. There also plenty of smaller "cheaper" set that has a larger cost per part value. So all that being said true value always comes down to the buyer. They are willing to pay what they are willing to pay. However I already see history repeating itself. The original Falcon set sold for $500 over 6 years ago. At the time it was the largest and most expensive lego set made. People complained then about how expensive it was and not worth the cost. Then the lego set sold out and was unavailable anywhere in store. People couldn't drop money fast enough and we're paying double of it's original cost. I see this one doing the same thing. I get it though it's not for everyone. And my not be worth the money to some. My only point is that it's not overpriced and actually a pretty good value for what you get. The crazy part is I can buy this set, sell all the pieces individually in the second hand market and make more more money then I spent. The minifigures alone got for $15-$25 each depending on the character. I once sold a white Boba Fett, a rare figure of course, for $100. So again apologies if I come off negative. I am just passionate about lego. DeAgostini kit builds:

I am sure it will sell. There was a lot of buzz in the store about it.I am a Lego club member too and they are limiting how many you can buy, which I think is a good idea. I like building Legos too. They are relaxing compared to plastic or wood models and I often build them if I am stuck on a plastic model.
I guess when I compare it to the Deagostini falcon it seems pricey, but I guess Lego knows that they are doing.I have seen the first Falcon go for over $3,000 on ebay.
Interesting about the figures.I had the star destroyer and my cousin came to stay with her kids.I gave the kids the figures from the star destroyer and when I went to sell it I couldnt believe how upset people were that I didnt have the figures!!It really affected the selling price.

You would be surprised how often the only reason a lego set sells is because of the figures. I used to know a reseller that would buy sets. Sell the figures for more then he bought the set for. Then give our club the parts because he already made his profit. Also when I say Lego club I am not talking about he official online one. I am actually in a club that meets monthly and displays at conventions and shows. It's called PennLUG for those interested. DeAgostini kit builds:
