 Hi Firstly welcome to the forum and enjoy your build. Go ahead and stain your deck then use a matt varnish to seal it, the deck furniture will fix to this surface when you get to placing it. See explanation below:- A matt varnish gives a finish like sandpaper that will not reflect light so well with troughs and ridges that break up the light reflection giving that dull look this gives any glue used a grab to adhere too. Gloss varnish gives a smooth finish that reflects light well and has no grab as it is smooth. Andy  Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Thank you for your reply I was worried that it would be difficult to glue the deck furniture over the varnish. Would you need to use CA glue? Completed Build: Bluenose

Hi I would use a medium or gel type super glue applied with a tooth pick or such like Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
