Nice to get the free toolkit with my subscription today. I'd forgotten about that. No way to shift the nasty black stains on the cutting board from the toolkit bag pressing against it though. Even my clean spirit, used to clean the brushes from painting the engine, wouldn't make an impression though it would lift the white lines if I were to try harder.

Hello CKale,

Whilst it's annoying to receive a cutting mat which is brand new and as such should be perfect, I wouldn't worry too much about it or even try to remove the marks. Over the coming months and years it will gradually get many more marks, cuts, paint spills and blemishes. You only have to look at the mats of seasoned modellers on this forum to see what I mean? Mine is getting in a bit of a state now after many years use but I won't bother replacing it as it's only a cutting mat at the end of the day?

Just a thought for you. Cool ThumpUp

While it is only a cutting mat, some of the white lines from the mat had transferred themselves to the back of the toolkit too. It wouldn't have cost a fortune to have had some plastic wrap in-between the two articles.

Having said that, it's also true that I didn't subscribe for the mat and tool kit. It's the model I want.

I have a pair of pliers with two permanent black marks from the case on the arms. As you say, at very little cost this could have been avoided.
Happy modelling
