Hi All

Something different from the norm here if your a budding' bricky' you will be right at home.

Aedes have been producing these kits for a number of years now along the lines of famous lighthouses and European castles they recently upgraded there range to include Bodiam castle. I first visited Bodiam 20 odd years ago now and I have always thought of it as the fairytale castle every kid draws sitting in a large moat/lake which is filled with large Coi carp and as I knew the castle my reason for buying the kit.

The downloadable PDF of there range is here:-

http://www.aedesars.com/hobby-ang/pdfcatalogue

The box containing the kit is sturdy, it has to be to hold all that weight in place. On opening you see the instructions but more on those later. The first thing you see is the large bag of bricks and next to it a tray holding the roof tiles, flat tiles, shaped stonework and blue paint powder for the lake and two bottles of PVA glue. After lifting the bags and tray you see the 4 part base provided with this kit[ note:- not all kits provide a base]. Below that are the pre printed base plan and the pr-printed, pre-cut card walls, turrets ect.

The instruction come in 2 large pages colour printed on both sides with detailed step by step construction of each section to be built. The third page provided give step by step techniques on painting the base and various construction stages/tips on shaping the stones ect.

The built castle will be 440mm x 320mm x 140 so not to large but large enough.

A nice kit well put together and providing all the parts and clear instructions you need, although I suspect I may need more glue to complete the model.

I have the German Village House from Aedes lying around in the basement. Not as huge as Bodiam Castle but still a very nice kit.

Looking forward to seeing this, the other half was complaining of nothing to do a while back so I tried to get her to buy and build this. Sadly she declined to do so.

Good luck with your build Andy.

Nice Kit.

I've now got the Castel Del Monte model sat in my amazon basket so I don't forget about it.

I found an unboxing and quick build video of the Bodiam Castle Kit Here
