Hi All,

Just a quick question, I am about to start on issue 45 planking the upper gun deck and it states in the magazine and Tomick's build to use
1 x 6mm for the deck support beams. The only planks I can find are
1.5 x 6mm.
I am probably missing something obvious can anyone enlighten me.

I had an accident and broke a few bones and have got a little behind with my build but I am now working hard to catch up. I hope things are going well with you all.
Happy building

Hi JAW,
My deck beams are 1.5mm so perhaps Tomick got muddled. I tend to follow the magazine and only refer to a build diary if in doubt or dare I say confused. So without checking I assume the mag suggested 1.5mm as I did not notice a discrepancy.BigGrin

Pleased to hear you are mending. Perhaps you should be extra careful when we get to the rigging. Mind you 1mm beams would give a little more bounce.LOL

Thanks TARBRUSH

In the magazine is also states 1mm planks, but I agree with you and it must be the 1.5mm probably a mistake.

I came off my scooter on the way to work. Unfortunately it will be a little difficult to be more careful as I swapped my scooter for a big boys bike and plan to go on a few european tours through the summer. I'll do my best to keep on my bike.

Thanks for the reply

Weel after reading this post i wwent to check the wood in that issue. I to have 1.5 x 6.

The worring thing i just found out is that the 1.5 x 5mm lengths for the acctual decking, at least half of the 28 supplied are on .5 mil thick so i either need new ones sending or spend more money to get my own.

No panic, its a typo on my part, though the magazine does state 1.5x6mm supplied, but there is also a typo at step 6 saying 1x6mm.

1.5x6mm is correct.

The typo i belive we can get over. What about the wood supplied that is the wrong size?

Wrong size for what? - If your saying that your 28 decking planks are not all 1.5x5mm then its a case of a call to cust services for a replacement pack.

Hi Plankers,

I commiserate with Foz as some of my 1mm planks (for the bulwarks)delaminated to 2X0.5mm when cut, so perhaps yours had already fallen apart. It was not much of a problem to stick 'em back together again so I have not complained to C.S. but chalked up a bad mark.Angry

Yes i had that problem when bending the planks a real pain but as you say easy to sort. I thought the part quality could be better on those planks.
