Oh! How I wish!! Unfortunately, this one's only a single planking job so plenty of filling and sanding will be the order of the day here my friend. As I'm going to be painting her the next stage or two will be critical to the finish so it may take a while to get there. In the mean time, on with the face mask and some calming music to sand by.

We're getting there. The next few days will see me out in the garden with my sanding tools and filler. I've just realised that I have to get some primer and paint before I can move on to the painting stage, and I'll need to fabricate some sort of stand/cushion out of foam or something so that the hull can be protected from accidental damage while I continue to work on her once she's painted.

Hi friends
Here's a short video of L'hermione in 2014 which may be of interest to those building this model. I found this while searching for additional info on the cannon rigging which on the model is pretty basic, to say the least, consisting of just one rope passing through the gun carriage. It's my intention to modify these features if I can find the relevant information. When I find anything else I'll share it on here.
The hull sanding isn't going 'smoothly'(forgive the pun). It's been too wet to do it outside and sanding on such a scale in our living space isn't going down too well with my partner and I can't say I blame her. Despite the mask, it's getting into me and isn't helping my throat problem.
Nevertheless, it will get done, but in short 'bursts'. I did try out my Dremel on her but lots of care needed to be taken not to apply too much pressure and the hull contours mean that I can only use it on the 'flat' areas anyway.

Quick update on the L'HERMIONE build diary
Hi friends.
I'm still waiting for a dry spell so I can get outside and sand the hull. It's unfortunate that I haven't got proper workshop and have to work in our living room and it's quite understandable that my partner doesn't want sanding dust all over the house. So in the meantime, I'll just have to be patient with the weather and find something else to do - for example, I've just built the stand for her and might even have a go at the ship's boats, I don't know, it all hinges on the weather and I'd rather keep to the build order if possible.
Another thought I've had is to try to do some video clips of the build, and to that end, I've posted a small clip just as a test.

New update on the L'HERMIONE build:
STAGE 86
Hi friends,
Well as you'll have gathered, the weather in my area has been pretty inclement for the last week. So, getting rather impatient, today I took advantage of a large gap in the clouds and went outside with the sanding equipment and finished sanding the hull - it took me about 2 hours - but the result is satisfactory for me considering there is a fair amount of filling up to do now before the first priming coat.
Wanting to get something done on the build while waiting for a clear spell, I decided to jump ahead somewhat to stage 86 and build the stand which was a relatively easy job consisting of just 4 parts which need to be glued together after being removed from the parts board, given the once over with some sandpaper and assembled making sure everything was nice and square

Continuing update on the L'HERMIONE build:
STAGE 12
Welcome back.
With the hull now sanded, work could progress on fitting the Stem, Sternpost and keel.
First off, the 5 parts were removed from the fret, burrs removed and given a light sanding all over.
The first part to be fitted was the Stem which is glued into the 4mm gap left after planking. This was quite a tight fit so nothing was needed to support it while the glue was drying.
This was followed by the 3 sections which make up the keel, again fitted into the 4mm gap along the bottom of the hull. These were held in place with masking tape until the glue dried. The last section should butt up against the Sternpost and as such, left a small gap between the 2nd and 3rd section which I filled up using an offcut of planking which was held in with superglue and trimmed off when dry.
Finally, the Sternpost was fitted after offering up to the hull and chamfering the top end to match the angle created by the sternboards under the transom. It was then glued into place and held with masking tape until the glue was dry.
That's it for this update, here's a few images of the work so far.
