Interesting to know that the plastic mouldings are part of the kit Baz, thanks for that and I agree, it'll be a real shame to cover up the frames .... but think how nice she'll look with all of those polished aluminium panels fitted?! Drool Cool ThumpUp

Thanks for the comments

the tail section is has a lot of pieces compared to the rest of the frame.

I filed a lot of material from the metal parts but still not happy with the fit so will need to add filler and shape them.

Hi Baz,BigGrin

Looking good. Cool

Couple of things to remember.

Make sure that all the stringers when fitted are flush with the wooden frames (gives a better surface to fix the plating to) and when fitting the metal shaped pieces, use a scrap of plating material as a guide to make sure that the metal parts are set at the correct level. I acheived this by laying the scrap of plating material on the frames next to where the metal parts are to be fitted, then fix the metal parts level to the plating.

Hope this helps, keep up the good work.Drool

for the nose section I tried to make the stringers as flat as possible then give the entire piece a light sanding over the stringers.

good tip using a scrap of the covering though, thanks.

I wasn't happy with the fitting of the metal parts and I was tempted to remove them and try again but after fitting the rest of the wood parts I dont think I can get a better fit.

Hi Baz,BigGrin

That looks pretty good. Cool

You have a little bit of scope with the plating to make some minorr adjustments for fit to the metal parts, so should be Ok.

The metal parts are quite soft, so if "essential" you can file (very carefully)a bit of material away. Do be very gentle in this approach or you may alter the shape noticeably.

I would wait until you have all the stringers fitted and then recheck the fit of the plating, using the piece of scrap as before.

Keep up the good work.BigGrin

Thanks everybody

I have now painted a base coat on the last of the wooden parts for the wings, once I have put those together I’ll start fitting the stringers onto all the sections and complete any sanding/shaping works that are needed

had a few problems with the wings, first a few pieces delaminated then i started to put the left wing together backwards. oops

woodwork for the left wing is now all complete.

i used 4 magnets to hold crew/radio room in place. it holds well but not strong enough so I have drilled an another 4 holes. think i will use the top 2 for locator pins and the bottom 2 for magnets.

Lovely work again Baz and very nice to see one of these progressing beyond the early stages. It looks very cool to see a full fuselage with wings attached and no skin applied, you're making a great job of this!

I particularly like those frontal photos, well done. Cool ThumpUp
