Started work on the final support towers. There are 2 support towers that allow access to the mid and top sections of the R7.Each tower has 9 platforms. The main tower piece is quite long and fragile. It was quite a challenge maintaining a square shape.I soldered it and then use some plastruct square stock to make sure the tower stayed square. There are quite a few photoetched platforms and ladders to add to the back side of the tower and then the main platforms are a mixture of metal and resin. The instructions are a bit of a nightmare. It is very hard to see exactly where the platforms attach. There are red arrows showing the attachment points, but they get lost in the detail of the tower.it took me quite a while to figure out where everything went.I used superglue for the platforms since they are so small and delicate. The next step is to glue the resin and metal parts that make up the access platforms and then attach them on to the service tower. Carl darbyvet attached the following image(s):

I have all 9 platforms done now and ready to be installed on the tower.it was a bit of a puzzle to figure out which resin piece fit which photoetched piece. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

All looking very nice as usual Carl. You have my admiration for your skill in assembling PE structures, especially as they are soldered and as such have heat transfer and potential buckling/warping problems to contend with. Not easy to do whilst still keeping everything perfectly straight and aligned!
Very well done on an excellent build, looking forward to your next update.

thanks everyone. The service tower and railings are painted. The elevator is also done.next step is to add the ladders on the outside of the service tower (white ladders), add the lights under the platforms and finally put railings around all of the access platforms. darbyvet attached the following image(s):

The railings have been added to the service tower. There are a couple of details to add, but it is getting pretty delicate to handle now so I will add those once it is installed on the base. The next step is to build the second (right) service tower. This is similar to the left.It should go quicker now I have figured out where all the platforms go. Once the second tower is done then the major construction phase is done. All that is left to do is add some small details and install the various towers on the base. I also need to build the Soyuz rocket. darbyvet attached the following image(s):
