Hi guys,
I just saw the most amazing scratch build on a static Santa Maria. The modeler's attention to detail was so amazing. There was one thing that stood out. One thing that I can not manage AT ALL.
I just built model of the 1805 Swift pilot boat. My problem came at all the places in the rigging where you have to "rope a rope".
Let me explain:
For instance at the dead-eyes. Those extending up have the bigger brown rope around it, which in turn has a thin piece of the other rope wrapped around it. It does look rather nice, the effect. My problem is how do you get it to stay there? Do you make a small knot?
I just glued it (I can imagine the more experience modelers out there sighing or snickering

). It doesn't look terrible, but you can see that it was just glued to stay.
Does anybody have any advice for me on how to fix this, or make it look more proffesional?
Kind regards from a newbie builder,
Francois
