Did not like the seam on the die cast part , cleaned up the seams the paint and polished the part , looks good natural . Has anyone consider die cast parts with no paint ?

Most of the diecast parts are clad within a plastic shell and therefore won’t be visible.
Perhaps post a few photos of what you’ve done?

Hi Carton, if you look at the R2 custom build page, you will see I have painted some metal parts after taking the seams off. I also show what paint I used if that helps. Regards Mark

Thanks for the input Markwarren and Tomick , was having problem with primer and paint sticking to the metal surface. I like the real metal look but it was not that way in all the movie props I've looked at . Found out I needed to etch the metal surface with vinegar and water , so attempt number three .

I use rustoleum self etching primer when I paint metal parts.If you use enamel paint you can also put the parts into a food dehydrator.This cures the enamel paint much quicker and gives you a very strong and tough paint finish.I do this with all my 1/43 metal car bodies.
