At this point, before I continued with the weld lines on the port saddle tank, i marked out the divisions for the amidships draught marks. The measurements were the same for the other draught marks; 104mm from the bottom of the keel which equates to 50 decimetres [5 meters] on the actual U-boat. The attached photo shows some electrical tape I used as a marker with 2mm divisions, stuck to the hull with the top division aligned with a mark on the hull at 104mm. The 2mm divisions equate to the correct 10cm division between numbers on the actual boats. This top mark will be numbered as 'zero' representing 50 decimetres, with the number nine underneath which represents 49 decimetres and so down to 'one'. Well everyone, that concludes this weeks update of my U230 U-boat build. A major milestone has been achieved and in anticipation I have booked Monday and Tuesday off next week to apply the paint! No weathering at this stage, just undercoating, top coat in three shades of grey and matt varnish as a clear coat. More details on paint in my next update. So, a few stats: It's taken over three years to get to this point where the boat is ready for paint.  It's taken over 10 weeks to complete the rivets and weld lines. I used, <drum roll please> 6290 rivets!!!!!!!!!!! ....and 7.4 metres [24 feet] of weld lines!!!!!!!!! Phew!!!
