This is the first model kit I have completed which needing painting and decals applying. taking the photos I have spotted a fingerprint on the inside of windows, rookie mistake I guess lol. Im also not to happy with the orange painted parts towards the rear. My cheap airbrush was playing up so I decided to paint by hand and it has left the areas very lumpy. overall I am happy with it though and I got some practice with an airbrush and decals. the model was only £6 and I only bought it for the practice. Hi Baz I started off my airbrushing by buying a starter set compressor with two airbrushes from the C.C.C' genre [cheap chinese copy's] and also like yourself found they can be lacking when you need to go for the finer work. There are ways of improving them if you are willing to take some time the tips I read and followed are more or less the same as in the attached video. Dont get me wrong this is a way of improving a cheap airbrush so you get better results from it but for the real fine work invest in a Neo or better when you can. Tip 1/ The main problem with C.C.Cs is the needle it may look smooth but its rougher than a rasp file. So polishing the tip improves it no end you can use a fine valve grinding paste or the tamiya polishing compound to do this. The more you polish the better it will perform. Tip 2/ Dump the seal and replace with beeswax as in the video, this works and only needs replacing with a major breakdown clean. Link to video:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkqCwc5-tbA
Hope this helps Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy I will try those tips thanks as it seems a shame to just chuck them. mine must have been the same set, a compressor with 2 airbrushes for about £50-60. I just bought an H&S CR plus infinity 2 in 1 to finish it off and I'm thinking of getting a sparmax 620x to run it. Current builds: HMS Victory, hachette black pearl, DC-3, R2-D2, Millennium Falcon

I just bought an H&S CR plus infinity 2 in 1 to finish it off and I'm thinking of getting a sparmax 620x to run it. The infinity is an excellant airbrush and i am sure you will be surprised just how much so when you get to use it. Airbrushes are a very personal thing and what works for one possible will not work for another. I have bought so many over the years based on recommendations and while so have been fine others i haver struggle with. The one i really struggled with was the badger krome with its large fixed paint cup. In my hands it always had a tendancy to want to tip right when i was holding it.. I hope you get on really well with your new set up and get some great enjoyment. Nearly forgot - your snowspeeder looks fantastic Happy Modelling

Thanks Tony I went through a lot of reviews but as you say a lot of the comments were people saying its down to personal preference and how you get on with it. I know that airbrush is overkill for me as a beginner but at least then I know if there are issues its with my skills and not the tool lol. the H&S won because of the hard wearing finish and the cup sizes. I bought a third micro cup for it which is little more than a few mm of knurling as I am not using huge amounts of paint.
