Hi All
The box.
The postman delivered this box morning containing the Fokker Dr.1 kit. The box is very sturdy mine had taken a few knocks at one end but the contents were unharmed, the box art shows several pictures of the finished model including close ups of the cockpit/wings ect on the box sides.
Whats inside.
All the parts are covered in shrink wrap apart from the metal castings that are packed in dedicated blister packs. The CD is first out of the box and the small decal sheet is inserted into the sleeve to protect them. The CD has full instructions, video tips, full parts list and tool recommendations for the build. The decals are well printed with high detail for there size.
Next its the acrylic stand which has the model name and description already etched into its surface.
Three blister packs are the next out of the box they contain the cast fuselage, engine parts all are well detail where needed. There is the usual casting lines but nothing more than a general clean up should sort out.
The propellor parts are next, you will make a sandwich of the light and dark woods then sand to shape.
After that a small bag containing the three types of rigging thread ect.
Two laser cut wood sheets are next one has all the ribs cut on it and the other the box spars, both are nicely cut with a minimum of ash present. The wing bracing tapes are next along with a bundle of wood and wire.
There are 4 etch sheets of various sizes three steel and one brass again all the parts are high quality with some nice detail where needed like the bracing strips on the inside panels.
In the bottom of the box is a large poster showing the finished model in various poses.
All in all a very well packaged kit that will produce with care a very nice scale model to display. Taking the time to add all the fuselage bracing and control wires will certainly set this model off.
Andy

Probably one of the most interesting and finely detailed kits I've ever seen with awesome instructions to boot. AL are really upping the game these last few months.

Thanks for looking in everyone and your comments:- @ Tigerace :- The kit has no options or shows ways to skin it as its really a display piece to show off the internals that wouldnt normally be seen when covered. There are however options out there to go down the skinning route:- Clear Solar Film:- A heat shrink clear covering for R/C aircraft. Make sure the parts are smooth where its to be applicated. Solar-Tex:- Another heatshrink covering that has Woven surface that looks good on vintage kits, the weave may be too large for this scale though. Nylon or tissue paper and dope:- Both of these will dry opaque so will hide internals so maybe not a good option. @Greyhawk, Could not agree more about the instructions and linked to the video's provided on the CD makes for a stress free build. Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

They've even started putting up the instructions for almost all their kits now so you know what you're getting into. Looks like at least one manufacturer has finally and firmly arrived in the 21st century. This one or the Hermione will be sitting in a Christmas present to myself this year. I'm not fooling anyone with the "or" in the previous sentence, am I?

I'm not generally a wingy-thing person but I must admit this kit looks really good. I look forward to seeing it underway.
