Hi Benny,
Ranking's have been changed to fit in with requests for ranking that are applicable to all genre, rather than ship ranking's that also apply to someone interested in such as just F1 which is clearly out of kilter, though as yet I'm unsure as to what the rank numbers relate to; its likely Admin will advise next week.

surly an admiral should be a number 1 not a 9! well as long as I am not a number 2 I will be happy “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

number 9s if i remember correctly was a punishment consisting of stoppage of shore leave, extra duties & reporting to duty officers at silly times in appropriate uniform

Hi all, As a person who is building both ships and other vehicles (DB5 -- Mclaren -- Tiger -- Lancaster )And the fact that I am on the Deagostini Model Space site, which is mainly ships I expect to have a rank rather than a number!! so I agree with you all. so please De Ag revert back to the way it was, rank makes much more sense and meaning than Giving everyone a number? particularly when you have more ship modellers. Why not have a referendum and let everyone vote for rank or not, that would be the democratic way, what do you say to my proposal? Cheers MWG MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Hi Shipmates! If DeAGOSTINI wanted to give the motor car side of the forum a rank that was OK! for them why didn't they add another rank to members profile’s, or setup the page to shown different detail in the rank field. So that if a member posts in the ship side of the forum a naval rank is shown and if the same person enters a post in the motor car side then a grid position or the championship table position is shown instead simply! e.g. rank 9 on the ship side would show ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET and rank 9 on the motor car side would show WORLD CHAMPION. Remember ADMIN, rank 9 means nothing to a shipbuilder and the ship side of the forum was here first.

Hi guys, lets not get away from the fact we are all model builders, whether it is ships, cars, planes. its great to have a site where we can see whats happening in our field. as for ranks... well. i do agree somewhat that it would be nice to have a single site but somehow sub-divided when we log on to access all things but if only interested in ships go to this, cars access that section. i am not that computer literate and sure if this is possible, but i do tend to agree since i am not really into motor sports that i now go into each sub section incase i miss something from the victory discussion. just my view and anyway a modeller is a modeller and great to see all hobbies going strong current builds

Now lets round up these land lovers and have every last one of them walk the plank to Davie Jones Locker so I can have my Gold Braids back. I really don't see what the issue of rankings.
Given ranking is based on the number of post contributions a member has made as apposed to how amazing they are, then i'd be more concerned with the quality of my posts than how many i've made. And from my experience of this forum, although i dont post a great deal, the majority of other folk posting here have been great.
I saw a suggestion or more to the point a "why not have" ranks determind by the board posted on, impossible as again its based on the number of contributions you make i.e ... 0 - 10 posts = novice 20 - 100 = getting there 100 - 250 = showing off now 500+ = get out more :P
unless you introduce a seperate forum package altogether which simply isnt cost effective, and uses up even more server space. Why run 2 forums on one website, when one will be adequate. Just means double the work when it comes to maintenence.
I wouldnt be too concerned about it displaying #9, or admiral of the fleet, as i said it doesn't determine how great you are, your posts do. Keep being informative and helping folk like me out, and you'll continue to be valued based on that, as apposed to the "label" under your name.

I feel like Patrick mcgee's side kick and I'm expecting to be attacked by some giant ball at any minute as I keep trying to escape to the pub, but the look from my missus puts a stop to that idea.
