I really do like the colour scheme you have used. Makes it much more eye catching than an overall monotone dark colour.
hope your weekend goes well also. Thanks Tony! I particularly like the camouflage stripes; they add that bit extra, which is one of the reasons I chose this boat. See attached photo of U230 in La Spezia, 1943. [used with permission] Regards, Phil W. Fair play to you Phil - you have certainly done your homework on this one in tracking down a picture that allowed you to add a similar design scheme to your model.. I guess your next large part of the build will be the stand they supplied over a couple of editions? Happy Modelling

I guess your next large part of the build will be the stand they supplied over a couple of editions? Morning Tony, I have made a temporary stand which will suffice for now. I still have to fit rudders, fore and aft planes and a whole host of other details before I then think about a display stand proper. Thanks for looking in. Regards, Phil W. The next step, or one of the next steps, is to apply a wash [probably a very thinned out matt black] to highlight the rivet and weld line details. Regards, Phil W. Morning from 'The Dockyard'. I initially thought I would complete all the painting of the compartments in matt white with a medium grey lower banding this week. So much for wishful thinking eh? Turns out that all I managed to get done was painting the matt white for the torpedo compartment. Four coats in total to achieve an even finish. Brush painted with one coat per evening meant slow progress. The attached photo shows the matt white finish. Another view of the torpedo compartment. I masked up the edges where the white meets the dark grey of the hull. On inspection there was slight 'bleed through', but nothing I can't correct by touching in with the dark grey. Well that's it for the painting side of things. As I write, the medium grey still requires another coat or two before i'm happy with the finish. It's just one of those jobs that can't be rushed. My intention on all compartments is to get an even coverage before I start weathering and detailing so that I begin with a 'blank canvas'. So, to fill out this post a little more, I thought I would include photos of a small selection of after market detailing parts I bought a while ago. This photo shows a vice and various spanners and other hand tools which will go into the Engine Room.
