BigGrin Hi All

More progress, the rear cockpit divider plate, floor, cockpit seat, seatbelts, joystick, various instruments, rudder pedals and leather bag have all been fitted to the fuselage. The wood floor and seat were painted using the AL Wood Grain Painting Mask I would recommend practicing with the mask 1st if you want a good finish.

Next you add the rudder and elevator control cables then the bracing wires and turnbuckles to the rear of the fuselage are added, I nearly have all of them in position now. When fitting the bracing wires no need to make them bar tight as after the glue has set you can use a heat gun the shrink them tight as the wire is made of a heat shrink material.

More soon.

BigGrin Hi All

Small update, the bracing wires are all done and the tailplane added to the fuselage. If your going to build this the mounting pegs on the fuselage will need to adjusted/reduced in diameter so the tail/elevator section sits correctly on the fuselage.

After the tailplane was fitted the two braces were added then the control wires from the joystick were connected. Lastly the rudder was fixed in position with two brackets and brass pins then the control cables were added.

Note.
I used a heat gun designed to shrink R/C model aircraft covering to shrink the heat shrink wires. Just be careful when doing an overall shrink on the fuselage. Link below to the heat gun I used:-

BigGrin Hi All

The ammo boxes were made up and painted along with the oil tanks and fuel tank.

The large oil tanks are due to the engines lubrication system which was a throw away system. The castor oil was mixed with the fuel through the carburreta then it passed through the cylinders and was ejected out of the exhaust ports and hence the oily faces of the pilots from the spray back who flew these machines.

The next thing to be added is the aileron cables once done the engine firewall was made up with the carburreta and mount added to the rear. The fire wall is added to the fuselage using 4 long bolts and nuts. Then the carburreta T piece that exits on either side of the fuselage went on.

The last part added was the fuel tank.

More soon.
