Pack 3 - Stage 12

Thunderbird 2


Parts supplied: Front hatch(outer),Front hatch(inner),Hatch stay,Stopper,Springs x2,Hinge pins x2 and Tweezers.


Yours parts for Pod 3 are shown in the first picture.

The stay will join the front hatch inner as shown.

Use the tweezers to fit the hinge pins, inserting them from the outside and with the ribbed tip left exposed like this.

Now push the pins in fully. Use the back of the tweezers if necessary.

Repeat for the other pin. Each pin should look like this.

Fit the stopper to this recess, with its tip seated in the arrowed notch.

Use superglue to affix the front hatch to its inner face, via the circled lugs.

Your assembly should look like this.

Place the loop at the end of each spring onto the hook at the sides of the hatch stay.

Fit both springs like this.

Pod Stage Complete.



Pack 3 – Stage 12

Elevator car 2


Parts supplied: Rear wheels x8,Rear hub caps x4,Rear axles x2,Rear chassis(lower),Rear chassis(upper)and Rear buffer.


The next picture shows the parts supplied for the Elevator Car 2

Slide two wheels over the tip of one of the axles, silver side first, so that the side with the central recess faces out.

Now push a hubcap onto the ribbed end of the axle to secure the wheels. Then slide the wheels back up the axle until they rest against the hubcap.

Repeat Steps 01–03 to fit two more wheels and a hubcap to the other end of the axle. Make sure both pairs of wheels fit together snugly and are pushed up against the hubcaps, as shown.

Repeat Steps 01–03 to fit another set of wheels to the second axle. Complete the second axle with another set of wheels. This is how the two completed axle assemblies should look.

Glue the rear buffer here as indicated by the arrow.

The lower chassis should look like this.

Fit the wheel/axle sets to the lower chassis. There should be no gaps between the inner wheels and the chassis. NB If there is a gap then the relevant hub caps need pushing further on the axle/axles.

Glue the upper chassis to the lower chassis via the pins... it should now look like this like this.

Stage 12 is Complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag

Pack 3 - Stage 13

Parts supplied: Rear hatch(outer),Rear hatch(inner),Hatch stay,Hinge pins x2,Springs x2.


Your parts for Pod 3 are shown in the first picture.

Fit the hatch stay to the rear hatch inner in the same way as you did for the front hatch in Stage 12.

Fit the first pins leaving the ribbed tips out.

Now press them into place and your assembly should look like this.

Now fit the stopper.
Apply glue to the four points indicated.

Attach the main rear hatch panel to the inner face as you did for the front hatch. Your assembly should look like this.

Fit both springs like this.

Pod Stage complete.



Pack 3 - Stage 13

Elevator Car 2


Parts supplied: Front wheels x4,Hub caps x2,Front chassis(upper),Front chassis(lower),Axle,Front nozzles,Number plate,Side blocks(left/right),Air intakes(left/right),Transmission cables x2 and Suspension damper.


Assemble the front wheels on the axle in the same way as previous wheel sets.

Orientate the nozzles as shown.

Then glue the nozzles to the front chassis.

Now fit the transmission cables to the lower chassis part, without glue.

Seat the axle in its slots, then seal them in place by joining the chassis parts. Use glue on the locating pins.

Glue the side blocks in place (they have R and L marked on them).

Now add the air intakes.

Connect the front chassis section to the rear chassis (holding both parts upside down) via the tabs and slots. It now looks like this.

Link the transmission cables to the holes in the rear chassis.

Now glue the suspension damper into its position, shown here.

Fit the number plate.

The chassis of Elevator Car 2 is complete.


Stage 13 is Complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Pack 3 - Stage 14

Parts supplied: Floor A,Floor B,Front hatch mount,Rear hatch mount,Screws(2.6 x 5mm)x9.



Your parts for Pod 3 are shown in the first picture.

Use four of the screws provided to secure floor parts A and B, entering from the underside of the parts (shown). NB: The wider end is the front.

Fit the front hatch assembly to the underside of the floor’s front end, via its stay. Make sure the hinges are flush to the floor’s edge. While holding the hatch in position, use tweezers to pull both springs over the indicated pins.

Place the front hatch mount over the stay. Making sure the springs remain on their pins.

Then secure with two screws as shown.

Now fit the rear hatch, again via its stay and to the underside of the floor.

Check the hinges are flush, And fit the springs.

Check everything is in place. Now fit the rear hatch mount, again ensuring the springs stay in position.

Use two more screws to secure it.

That completes this stage of Pod 3.



Pack 3 - Stage 14

Elevator Car 2


Parts supplied: Platform,Platform frames(short)x2,Platform frames(long)x2,Compressor,Compressor cage,Hydraulic jack and Suspension arms x2



The next picture shows the parts supplied in this stage for the second elevator car.

Take all the platform frames and glue their ends together via the square tabs and matching holes.

Once the superglue has dried, place the frame over the raised ridge on the underside of the platform.

Fit the compressor to the platform underside as shown.

Then use glue to secure the cage over it.

Now fit the hydraulic jack. Its thinner and thicker pins have correspondingly sized holes to make sure you position the part correctly.

Glue the suspension arms into the holes on the platform underside. The tab at the join of the arms should be on the inside, facing the jack.

Lower the platform onto the chassis, so the tabs on its suspension arms and hydraulic jack fit into the slots on the chassis’ rear section. Use glue to secure the parts.


Stage 14 is complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Pack 3 - Stage 15

Parts supplied: Frame 1,Frame 2,Frame 3 and Screws(2.6 x 5mm)x5.


Your parts for Pod 3 are shown in the first picture.

Match frame 1 to the number 1 imprinted on the front underside of the pod 3 floor.

Fit the frame into the slot and use one of this stage’s screws to secure it.

Your pod will look like this.

Repeat for frame 2 securing with a screw.

Now fit frame 3 from the narrow end of the pod floor. Spread this frame slightly so you can fit it into its numbered slots. Make sure the frame’s tabs are level to each other. Then use two screws to fix these in place.

Male sure all four screws used in this stage are secure.

Your Pod 3 should look like this.


That completes this stage of Pod 3.



Pack 3 - Stage 15

FAB1


Parts supplied: Chassis,Wheels x6(on fret),Axles x3,Steering wheel,Instrument panel,Drivers seat,Passenger seats,Door lining(right),Door lining(left) and Exhaust pipes x2.


The next picture shows the parts supplied in this stage for FAB1

Remove one of the wheels from the sprue and fit one of the axles into it from the back.

Repeat to make three wheel/ axle sets.

Feed one through these holes in the chassis.

Close the axle with another wheel from the sprue. Press the wheels inwards, so they are flush with the chassis.

Repeat for the second set.

Now do the same for the holes at the rear of the chassis, so all three sets of wheels are in place.

Glue the steering wheel, oriented as shown, to this space.

The instrument panel will sit over these tabs.

Glue it in place as shown.

Now glue the driver’s seat here.

Then the passenger seats behind it.

The door linings will fit like this. Note their orientations.

Fit the door linings using a little glue to secure them via their tabs/slots. Make sure the parts are flush to the chassis.

The exhaust pipes are fitted into the places shown.

Glue both exhausts in place.


Stage 15 is complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Pack 3 - Stage 16

Parts supplied: Frame 4,Frame 5,Frame 6,Frame 7 and Screws(2.6 x 5mm)x5.


Your parts for Pod 3 are shown in the first picture.

Find the 4 marked on the underside of the Pod 3 floor and line frame 4 up to it. Fit the first tab, then carefully stretch the frame across and fit the other one to the opposite slot. Check both are level and secure the frame with two screws.

Repeat for frame 5, making sure you face the frame the right way around. Secure it with a screw.

Now fit frame 6. Secure it with a screw.

Check all four screws used in this stage are secure.

Familiarise yourself with frame 7. Two pictures show the difference between the ends. The notches in the underside of frame 7 will fit to the corresponding ones on frames 1–6. Fit frame 7, starting with frames 3 and 4. Pinch the joins to make sure they are all secure.

Ensure that all the circled joins fit properly as shown.


That completes this stage of Pod 3.



Pack 3 - Stage 16

FAB1


Parts supplied: Body,Front bumper,Rear bumper,Grill and Canopy


The next picture shows the parts supplied in this stage for FAB1.

Fit the front bumper to the body like this.

Now add the grille like this.

Fit the rear bumper like this.

Fit the canopy via its four pins. Press the corners above each pin carefully, one by one. NB: Do not force down on the centre of the canopy! The canopy should sit like this.

Orientate the body with the chassis.

Finally, fit the body assembly to the chassis via the pins. FAB1 should now look like this.


Stage 16 is complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Parts supplied: Front panel(outer),Front panel(inner),Details 1x2 and details 2-5(on large fret),Details 6-7(on small fret), Details 8-17,Washers x2,Screws(2.6 x 5mm)x2.



Your parts for Pod 3 are shown in the first picture.

The inner and outer parts of the front panel are supplied temporarily fastened to each other. Remove them, add some glue to the circled points, then reattach them carefully.

Hold the parts until the glue has dried.

NB: Remove the detail parts supplied on the sprues when required, then trim any burrs.

Detail 2 fits here. All the details used in this stage should be secured with a dot of glue Make sure each part is pressed into place.

Detail 4 goes here.

Detail 8 goes here. Make sure there is an A stamped on the reverse of the part, and that you orient it exactly as shown here.

Detail 9 (stamped B) goes here. Orient the part as shown.

Glue detail 15 here.

Detail 14 here.

Glue detail 3 here.

Detail 10 here. Be careful with the delicate part.

Fit detail 11 next to 10. Its recess will accommodate the right arm of detail 10, so the parts look like this.

Glue detail 12 here.

Glue detail 16 here.

Dry-fit detail 17 indicated by the red arrow. Then fit one detail 1 into the narrow slots, as indicated by the black arrow

The other detail 1 goes here.

Detail 13 goes here, oriented as shown.

Detail 6 fits here. (This is the larger of two similar parts.)

Detail 7 goes here.

Detail 5 should be glued here.

Next, slot the front hatch of your Pod 3 assembly through the middle of the pod front panel.

Pull the front hatch stay out from the floor a little, and slide the bottom ridge of the front panel in between it and the pod floor, like this.

With everything in a straight line and flush with the pod floor, turn the assembly over and place a washer here. Orient the washer as shown.

Secure with a screw.

And repeat for the other side.

Dab a little glue onto the circled tab, at the front of the longitudinal frame.

Fit this tab into the hole in the inner front panel and hold until the glue dries.

Your Pod 3 should look like this.


Stage 17 is complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Your parts for Pod 3 are shown in the first picture.

The outer and inner rear panels are fixed together, using the indicated glue points in the same way you did for the front panels.

Press the parts together until the glue has dried.

NB: Remove details from their sprue when required and remove any burrs.

All details used in this stage should be secured with a dot of superglue.

Detail 1 goes here.

Detail 5 fits here. See the photo for correct orientation, two raised edges are indicated by the arrows. Check you have fitted the part correctly.

Detail 3 fits here like this.

Detail 4 goes here. Be careful with the thin part.

Glue detail 2 here, over the two pins.

The inner wall of the rear panel should look like this.

Like you did for the front panel, fit the rear hatch through the panel.

Slide the panel into the gap next to the hinges again. Ensure there is no gap.

Turn the pod over and fix the end panel with two washers and screws as shown.

Dab a little glue onto the arrowed tab at the rear end of the longitudinal frame.

Fit this tab into the hole in the inner rear panel and hold until the glue dries.

NB: Note that in stage 18 step 22 of your instructions, you are told to glue the four details numbered 6, to the “rear end panel”. This should read “front end panel”

Four details numbered 6 are glued to the frontend panel like this. They are orientated with the raised edges in the centre of each piece vertically.

Pod 3 should now look like this.



Stage 18 and pack 3 are now complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.
