Hi Shipmates, I started my build back in 2010 but due to moving home multiple times, also not having a space for all the staff involved in the build it was paused with the hull planked half way down with no documented pictures. This May I was able to carry on building my ship and I started to take pictures about the process and posted them on Facebook. I'll re-post here my old pictures with the same comments from there. This is my very first wooden model, hence I follow the magazine instructions letter-by-letter with minimal customised features. Because of this you might find my diary less interesting compared to other professional builder's diary here. Also due to the concern that my woodworking skill not as perfect as others, I decided to go for the Trafalgar colour painted option to able to hide any imperfections on my woodwork. If there will be any... Anyhow, I still hope you'll enjoy it. First post is from the re-starting point: 14/05/2017 After a looooooooong pause let's crack on to continue my 1:84 scale wooden HMS Victory model. 16/05/2017 couple of more layers of plank fitted. It's not a very quick process. 17/05/2017 Another two layers fitted. With this the upper half of the hull is fully planked. Now comes the even more difficult and slower part: the lower hull, underneath the waterline. The much bigger curves requiring bending the planks, especially at the bow and stern. gingerale75 attached the following image(s): Happy building! 18/05/2017 started planking the lower hull. Veeeeeryyyy slow 😴 Bend one strip each side, then leave it dry its place. Then taper towards the bow and fix it. A pair of plank = 30+ mins... 😴😴 21/05/2017 two more layers of planking fitted on the sides and at the bow. Next one is bent and now drying ready to tapering, then glueing on its place. gingerale75 attached the following image(s): Happy building! 22/05/2017 Another layer and a dropper plank fitted at the bow. Will start working on the stern planking with nearly 90 degrees plank bending without snapping them... 😳😱😵😰 To get ready for this madness gaps filled with milliput. gingerale75 attached the following image(s): Happy building! 23/05/2017 hardest task (so far) completed. Very first plank at the stern bent and twisted on the same time.... 😥😊😜 One of them is tiny bit split but hopefully won't be visible after pin is removed... gingerale75 attached the following image(s): Happy building! 24/05/2017 Further layers added to the stern. Not the smoothest finish but theoretically the plank ends will be covered later on. gingerale75 attached the following image(s): Happy building! Laszlo Finished builds: HMS Victory, HMS Victory Cross-Section

To support the garboard plank little fillets fitted, first centre planks fitted next to keel. gingerale75 attached the following image(s): Happy building! 13/06/2017 Very slow progress today. The garboard plank twisted and fitted at the stern, one side twisted and fitted at the bow. These must be thoroughly dry before they trimmed otherwise they will come off. gingerale75 attached the following image(s): Happy building!
